I haven't seen it but I want to since I'm a really big fan of David Fincher (Fight Club, Se7en) but I'm skeptical because even Zuckerberg was quoted saying, "Wow, they made my story interesting? That seems unlikely."
I wouldn't even say watch it if you want to know more about Zuckerberg and how Facebook came about, because it's based on a smear campaign book (Accidental Billionaire) that demonises Zuckerberg and he wants nothing to do with the film.

Nothing impressive about it at all. Not the acting, not some amazing scene. A better related movie is the social network thriller/mockumentary, CATFISH.

Now if you want to talk about a film I was disappointed by this is my current go to. I thought this movie was terrible.

Another disappointing film for me was Across the Universe. I was so amped to see it I had read about it a year before it came out and I went to see it day one in theatres. It was beyond belief how much I hated that film.

Most Deceptive film for me would be Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I expected it to be about two quirky characters and what I got were two annoying as fuck characters.

Father: Hey, son. Want to watch a movie with us?
Son: Um... What's it called?
Father: There Will Be Blood
Son: COOL!

I was really disappointed with the movie "9" back in 2009. I thought the trailers looked epic but when I watched in I thought it was rather dull.

Man of the Year
you know, that one that showed Robin Williams acting all silly as a comedian who becomes president? (think Stephen Colbert)
yeah, turns out it's an action/drama with about 15 minutes of Robin Williams in it. it's also riddled with plot holes. theis girl discovers that Williams won because of a flaw in her company's voting machines. she tries to alert the company, and what do they do? own up to the mistake? call for a revote? even just sweep it under the rug? NO. THEY TRY AND HAVE HER FUCKING ASSASSINATED. BIGGEST LOAD OF BULLSHIT I HAVE EVER SEEN.

Deceptive: the Princess Bride

Hey look, they kidnapped the Princess, oh la-de-da - Hang on, what? What's Andre the Giant doing there and why is he rhyming? When did this get so awesome!

Disappointing: Tron:Legacy. That thing looks like an eyegasm, but is a very shallow middling action piece about as subtle as being slapped in the face with a wet fish. Soundtrack is pretty much brilliant though.

Pan's Laybrinth. All the posters and trailers showed it as being some fantasy alice-in-wonderland type thing, and it turns out that it was really some period-piece about Spain in WW2 or something, with fantasy bits sprinkled in here and there.

I'm not saying it was a bad movie, just had I known that I wouldn't have bothered renting it.

Probably the biggest dissappointment movies for me were Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness. I loved #1, #2 was iffy but 3 was just shit. And "The Box", because they took a cool short story and turned it into some shit about aliens and portals and crap like that.

The American.
the trailers made me think that would be an action movie
instead it was just a boring movie
it's a shame because I really like George Clooney as an actor
but The American just put me to sleep

We all knew that one was going to be shit after they said, Shyamalan wrote and directed it. THEN there was the white-wash casting.

I myself am a big fan of RE, however when I saw this movie I wanted to puke out my insides and burn them. Such a travesty to a wonderful game series.
I agree with the movie review. The director in married to Milla Jovovich so then it becomes easy to see that the point of the movie was to say "Hey, look at my wife".

I have to ask though, have you played the games? I only ask because other than the occasional character name they have nothing in common with the movies. Also, the games we're all mediocre until RE4 when they threw out all the shit from the previous games. Unfortunately RE5 tried to pile all the shit back in and tie it off with a damned bow. As it stands now the whole IP is just over hyped trash, destined to turn out more and more shit, not unlike the Silent Hill series.

It's kind of sad to see one good game spawn a chain of continual disappointment, and you just keep getting back in line for the next release hoping that something of the original will come back... on a related note Mass Effect 2.

The only movie I can think of that was deceptive to me was Inglorious Bastards. I liked the movie, but I seem to remember the trailers not even bringing up the blonde girl who is the main character for most of the movie. I could be wrong, but I swear the trailers made it look like it was all about Brad Pitt's character and his unit and how they were going to go kill a bunch of nazis.
Agreed, The trailers we're very misleading. I was expecting Kill Bill meets Dusk Till Dawn with Nazi's and centering around the bastards. What I got was Pulp Fiction meets the Diary of Anne Frank.

THAT!! My hubby and I loved the tv show, have all the seasons. We both agree it is actually the worst movie either have ever seen. Stupid Shamalan needs to pull his head out of his ass and go far far away.

We're nearing the end of the second page, and no one mentioned reign of fire yet?
It started out with what could have been the setup for a fantastic epic battle against dragons in today's world, then skipped the interesting events to deliver a basic postapocalyptic B-Movie.

I would have to say Fight club. I don't mean it was bad (it was awesome) but judging from a friend's description I thought it was literally going to be a movie about a dude that becomes an underground boxer or something.
If that's the impression your friend got, and gave you, then your friend completely missed the point.

OT: Vanilla Sky. I expected to be able to follow what was going on with the fucking thing. Then again, I was about 13 or 14 when I watched it, so maybe it'd make more sense if I were to watch it again. Although it still wouldn't be good...

Inception, "yeah it's really good but is a total mindfuck"

I was so psyched about Inception but when I finsihed watching it, it just seemed like the plot was straightforward but surrounded by an artificial cloud of fuzziness that was only there to be fuzzy instead of being generated naturally by the plot. So I guess my vote is for Inception too.

Most disappointing: The Expendables a.k.a. what wasn't even a movie more like a one season show put into a barely one hour product of everything is the show. Did I forget to mention that is sucks because it sucks

Hellboy, it looked at least not bad from the trailers but it ended up being one of only two movies that i have ever fallen asleep during, just so boring and stupid i thought.

Damn. My ones were ninjad.

Avatar and Inception. I watched them both to see what the fuss was about. I haven't seen a trailer for either.

Hated both.

From what I've heard, Social Network was deceptively... poignant? ...or something.

Also, The Prestige was hugely deceptive (at least to me). I was introduced to it as 'a film about magicians', which is nothing less than a huge understatement.

Essentially, it was The (main concepts of The) Matrix revisited. I still think it was a good film though.

Oh really? I pretty much gave up on the films after RE: Extinction... good heavens, what did ANY of that film have to do with RE? So it doesn't sound like it's worth bothering with Afterlife either then? Well that's a couple hours of my life saved.

Now Audition, that's a mindfuck *shiver*
Audition as in the Japanese horror? Is it good? If so, I have it in a dvd collection that I am yet to watch properly and may look it out.

OT: I would say Max Payne... because, oh stupid me, I thought it could actually be as good as the games were! Turns out that it was in fact nothing to do with the games. I mean come on... you've got two very compelling stories RIGHT THERE, in the damn games... either one will do. Needless to say I never even finished watching, thank the gods it was only a rental.

Also: John Carpenter's The Ward - I know it's not out in America yet but... seriously? The most predictable and laughable horror I've seen in a long time, and I'm not sure that was the tone he was going for. Good story, nice twist, but not good enough to save what was mostly a very silly film.
