"Kill those fucking blue monkeys..." -My Dad

I have never EVER agreed with my father on something other than guns...
I hated Avatar.

Inception. I fell asleep the first time I saw it. Watched it again. Fell alseep again. Watched it third time. Fell asleep during action scenes. Watched it fourth time. Made it through whole thing. Was then told I didn't really understand what the ending meant.

Would like to mention all viewings were during the day and I was not tired going into the film.

Inception.
I thought it was gonna be THE deep-thinking film of 2010.
Turned out to be THE biggest let-down film of 2010.
There were so many people saying it was amazing and it's so complex and interesting and the fact that it put idiots in there place got me interested. But no. There was no majorly complex thing, it was a film about going into different dream levels and the main protagonist having to cope with the missus.
That is it, that is all there is to it and that just sucked. I walked out of the cinema feeling defeated, but I did find it hilarious how people were coming out like 'What? I didn't get it!'.
It was interesting yeah, it had a good enough story to it and it did make me keep thinking, just no-where near the levels of which I was promised.
Liked the film, maybe loved it, but seriously ... fuck the hype.

Million Dollar Baby. -> Veiled end of life commentary ruined it.
The Dark Knight. -> Parades itself as heroic, but instead ends up depressing. On the flip side, extra points for killing off the annoying Rachel character. Want to make a clown terrorize the city, go ahead. Want to make a Batman movie, make him more pivotal to the plot.

Avatar all the way. Don't get me wrong, I like pretty pictures, however I also like some meaning and originality to my entertainment. And that's coming from a sci-fi nut...

I like where this thread is going. My turn, all 3 of the Godfather movies, bad acting, bad writing, and just boring.

The Aviator for me. I havn't seen it in ages so I can't remember if it was a good film or not, but I remember being so disappointed because at the time I loved Planes, Air Combat etc. So when I saw the adverts for this (Which were nothing but planes flying around being awesome) I was hyped. And when I saw it? A drama about a genius losing his grip on reality (I think- like I said, it's been a while) Maybe it's a good film, but I remember being really disappointed

I didn't go in with much if any expectations, I walked away feeling completely robbed. How that mess could have passed for a movie was beyond me, more so considering the director was the same guy behind the polar oppositely brilliant Equilibrium.

Scott Pilgrim. I expected a slice of pure awesome drizzled with hilarity thanks to over-excited friends.

I got a good film, but nowhere near 'the best fim ever made, ever' that I had been led to believe. To tink it's even close to The Good, The Bad & The Ugly is madness.

The Black Dahlia movie that came out a few years ago. I thought it would be more about the killer and the murder, instead I was stuck watching an extremely boring love story sort of thing.

The Village those who watched the trailer and the movie right after that know what I mean. Its a shame though it sucked. It had a really great cast of actors but the marketing was just horribly wrong.

Transformers 2

If Michael Bay stopped rewriting everything it would be great i.e. Jetfire would still be alive and second in command of the Autobots, Scorpinok would be an actual main character who did more than play about in the sand for a bit and Sideways could be in the wings waiting to be a big bad in a later film. Hopefully Transformers 3 will be ok seeing as its supposed to not care about the humans as much and will actually be a film about transformers.

The Pink Panther movies...the new ones with Steve Martin.

My friend put it on knowing full well I loved the originals and my God Steve Martin should be on TV daily apologizing for bastardizing the originals. His new movies were unfunny, uninspired, ridiculously bad, and punishing to view.

Sure they're older but I felt the need to bring up that a series that carries the title Pink Panther shouldn't have either Steve Martin or unfunny jokes in it.

Skyline, that alien invasion movie set in Los Angeles.

I mean I see this trailer showing huge spaceships and fighter jets battling the spaceships and human being getting sucked up into the ships and people fleeing from gigantic extraterrestrial monsters. I was expecting something amazing, like a huge epic scale alien invasion movie with planet wide chaos and destruction, as humanity tries to fight for survival.

What I got, was a bunch of people locked in an apartment building and never leaving it for literally the whole damn thing. They never manage to leave the building, they just sit there for like two hours while every now and then we see some alien attack from the distance. The acting was subpar, the story was stupid, the characters were awful, there was no tension, no drama and it pretty soon became apparent that the only action moments in the movie were done to make the trailer look good. Not to mention one of the stupidest endings I've ever seen in a movie. Stupid, anti-climactic and confusing.
A complete waste, one of the worst movies I've ever suffered through and I was excited as hell to go see it. I was excited that I was going to get to see aliens destroying Earth once more.... and it LIED TO ME!!! IT LIED!!!

For the sake of the lives of millions of people who want to be spared from my wrath, Battle: Los Angelos had better be good enough to make up for Skyline.

Also as a side note, Splice was a good movie. But it wasn't the silver chariot from the heavens that MovieBob declared it to be, so while I enjoyed watching it at the time, it wasn't worth the THREE MONTHS of impatient waiting. Or the distance I had to travel to find a cinema that was showing it.

I'd have to say Inglorious Bastards. I expected a hilarious take on WW2. I got 2 hours of subtitles and confusion as to what was going on.

I was also disappointed about Avatar, but honestly it wasn't that bad. It was fun to watch, but I wouldn't ever watch it again. The plot was just too predictable for me.

OK Here we go-

Sequels like Pirates 2, Matrix 2, MI:2, Phantom Menace. So goddamn awful.

Then there's Tropic Thunder, which failed as a comedy AND a war flick. Plus... some others I can't really think of.

Full Metal Jacket. First half was really good. Second half was way under par, IMO.
Agreed.

Yes, but specifically the end. As in, the last three seconds. There was no lead up to that precise question that was posed, other than, from what I can see "Hey, some crazy shit happened before, what if it happened again :O"
Meh, yeah...for me it just seemed like something tacked on to make people feel all introspective or whatever. But it's not like it hasn't been done better before (you know...with Greek Philosophers).

That aside...a lot of logical stuff killed it for me. Like...the feeling of falling waking you up...but then...weightlessness? Isn't that where the feeling of falling comes from?

Just one of many that made me kind of sad in general about the films willingness to explore the human mind.

I think that 'The Village' was a very deceptive, yet decent movie. If it had been marketed as what it was, more of a human nature piece, than it would have been a lot less disappointing than it was.
As for disappointing, that has to go to Skin Walkers. It looked and sounded like it could be an awesome movie, but it turned out worse than a Syfy original.
