A certain scientist in Half life 1, making comments about "how dark it was", just after a headcrab jumped to his head. That was...disturbing at least.

Also, in the Doom 3 game, for me the most dreaded sound was...well, no sound at all. As soon as everything became silent, and the walls were clean for a change, I just knew something was going to happen. And everytime I was right. Helldog suddenly charging at me, zombies everywhere, you name it. But the worst moment was definitely being in a big room, having killed everything in it, relaxing, cleaning my weapons, opening a door I just noticed, and immediately being attacked by a fat guy with a chainsaw.

Kirov reporting! followed by the building of hundereds of IFV,s
The sound of the motion sensor in AVP
The beggers in Assasins Creed
Grlrlrlrlrlrlrlrlrr Murlocs in WOW
the sound of a sniper bullet whooshing past your head or the clank of a grenade in MW2
DING the sound Win XP makes when an error occurs. Sounds like some one just got whacked on the head with a lead pipe!

The bloodsucker roar in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Hear roar, crap pants, grab shotgun.

The worst thing about dogs is that in other STALKER games, getting killed by dogs was embarrassing. And now it's pretty hard to avoid.

the -ptaff- -ptaff- -zwinng- of rounds hitting the ground and flying over your head in Dragon Rising, generally followed by the -THUNK- of one smashing your legs, signifies a nice mission restart... ugh.

also the gentle tinking of someones martyrdom grenade bouncing off your shoes...

and who could forget "Jesus loves me this I know, because The Bible tells me so", sends shivers down my spine..

Sounds that make my heart stop incldue a chainsaw revving in Resident Evil 4/5 and (As has been mentioned numerous times) Left 4 Dead's Tank theme.

Sounds that are just plain annoying include Bayonetta's voice and Ashley Graham shouting for help.

how could I forget "low power" especially on C&C Generals when you've just seen a huge block of enemy troops appear on radar and your new defenses undermine the power grid.. nightmare

on a similar train "scud storm launched"

In F.E.A.R 2 the static and noise before alma pops up always manages to scare the shit outta me

Edit: Ok no I take that back...alma's noise was scary but the second song from the OP is truely scary and depressing... I dont think I'll ever see that song the same again

I have to agree with you in that one, it can be especially scary if you know that when your life is 40 or below, the tank is faster than you.

That unmistakeable, rumbling "whumph" of a Feral Ghoul Reaver's radiation "grenade". It means a Reaver is near and unless you've gotta FatMan on you, it's really gonna fuck up your day!

I agree with the MGS !. But no one who has played Silent Hill 2 could forget the radio. The static was a sign that shit was coming your way.
I think I'm gunna have to go with this one, too.
