I once lost a match in Warcraft 3 where I basically didn't notice that the enemy had moved his workers into my base, was mining my gold and had basically barricaded me into my own base. It was only like 2 minutes into the game and I really didn't expect anything like that to happen so early on.

Oblivion. I don't know if I didn't have the controls right or what, but I stood over, around and far from a worm-like creature for at least five minutes trying to kill the thing. It was level null, I was level three at least, and I never hit the damned thing once. Very start of the game, and I never played past that because it frustrated me so much. I dislike open-world stuff, usually, and that game ensured my dislike.
