This idea is still in the works, so please forgive me if you see some plot holes.
Ok, so here's what I was thinking: Darth Vader lives on spirit, and his malignant spirit has discarded all shreds of goodness and his hatred is such that he can manipulate the force from beyond. Using that he plans on building the Ultimate Death Star, but to power this huge station, he needs the One Ring---a relic from an ancient civilization that had created such evil and had destroyed themselves, and laid to waste the planet they inhabited--Tatooine in this case---but Luke and Co find out about this (from Yoda, or Obi-Wan) and search for the ring themselves---and they find it! So the race is on, Luke and Friends must reach the center of the galaxy and cast the ring into the black-hole to destroy its malice, forever. But of course D. Vader is chasing them.
Possible plot twists: Chewbacca falls under the power of the ring and steals it for himself (thus a sequel) and flees to a remote star system, etc etc etc....
This sounds great in my head. What do you think?
