i know a lot of people are going to say hitler. but he was incredibly clever in the way that he pushed his way to power. he had nothing personal against the jews, they were just a convenient excuse for him to do whatever he wanted.

okay, then. who, in your opinion, was the most evil person ever in history?

for me, a candidate for this title is Ted Bundy
As I said, no one. Most of the people that this thread lists as evil are actually insane.

Stalin, for having murdered millons of people, many more then hitler, and getting away with it. Man was insane.
Not just people, his OWN people. Tough call on which one is actually worse. The evil of Greed and Indifference, or the evil of Inciting Racial Hatred?

oh come on, you must have an opinion either way. by applying your criteria, and only your criteria, you must be able to believe someone to be evil (or just a total bastard). forget what everbody else has written, who do you consider to be the worst person who ever lived?
don't say no one, and don't say something relativist

Agreed. Mengele was more evil than Hitler, at least inherently.

There. I said it.
Oh, boy. That might make you a few more enemies. If I'm thinking what you're thinking, then Pope Urban II might be more "evil" than Jesus. He was just a carpenter; the RCC made decisions that weren't His.

Well to me Evil is whatever stands in my own way of a glorious Utopia.
Easy, George W. Bush. Evil, psychotic, crazy, they all fit.

The most evil person in the history of the world would have to be some insignificant person. I won't tell you the gender, ethnicity, religious beliefs, or time period of this person. Just know that this person was evil, and it is sufficient for you to bow around his or her (or its) feet should you see this person in the street.

Figuratively speaking, of course. I'm not allowed to reveal whether or not this person has feet, either.

I agree with these two, there's no black or white, only grey.

Most of the Nazi party's bigwigs were animal lovers, although it didn't stop Hitler using his german shepard as a guinea pig for poison.
Your all wrong.

Whoever the first person who thought it would be funny to hide the TV remote is pure evil.

He hated lots of people, Jews were just a bigger 'concern' to him than anyone else really.

And they would be wrong. Some things are simple. Right and wrong does exist, and there are those who choose consciously to do wrong, or do wrong while deceiving themselves that it's okay.

Anyway, on topic:

Hitler
Stalin
Edward the Longshanks (yes, the king from Braveheart. Yes, he was real, yes, he was a truly evil bastard)
