I can't remember where I read this, I think it was some John Grisham book about a guy on Death Row. He mentioned a way they allegedly killed people in China. They just pop up behind you while you're eating dinner, you have no clue, and they shoot you in the back of the head. Ignorance is bliss apparently. I think a bullet to the head while being unaware would definately be the humanest way to be executed.

As several people have already mentioned, lethal injection is actually quite often a horrible, slow, painful death. We just don't see it because the person being killed is paralyzed.

I'm going to have to go with a close range shotgun blast to the head as being the least inhumane way of killing a person that I know of. Certainly very messy, but quick and painless.

I agree on poison, it's been the most painless form of ecexution in more than 2000 years. In the Plato's documentation of Socrates' death the posion is described as numbing, than it leads to heavy sleep and it kills you while you sleep.

Severing the spinal cord is pretty much THE fastest way to be classified scientifically dead.
Iether that or vaporisation via explosion. But thats VERY messy. Snapping of the neck causes instant "medical" death but then you see those things about the eye movement very shortly after wards which could be like a lifeless reflex, you know like in science class where they showed you how electricity can make dead frogs move.

If I'm ever executed, I want it to be by detonating a 10 megaton nuke in my lap. There certainly won't be any time to feel pain that way.

Actually I hear from a friend of mine who is in the medical profession that there is utterly no evidence to support this. Can't remember why though
