Final Fantasy, every game is "The best one yet!" to a third of them and "The worst thing to happen to the series ever" to another third, even the last third will have at least one they despise and one they would kill over.

The Elder Scrolls fanbase have had a history of begging for something (in case of Morrowind, unique hand-made content), have it delivered, only to complain that its not the same as the previous game which they complained about.

After Morrowind, everyone wanted a "not-broken-as-fuck" combat system and a magic system that actually worked, plus UI that didn't suck stilt. In oblivion, they delivered on that, giving a game that was actually playable, BUT OH NO! its no longer Morrowind! its no longer broken as fuuuuuck and has a decent combat system!

The same thing will probably happen when Skyrim gets here, people will ***** and moan, just as always.

In the words of Yahtzee, "Fans are clingy complaining dipshits who will never ever be grateful for any concession you make. The moment you shut out their shrill, tremulous voices the happier you will be for it."

I can't honestly say that the CoD fanbase is actually that difficult to please as a whole. Sure, there's whining about how every weapon in Black Ops is identical, or you can make outrageously broken builds in MW2, but those people are still playing -- in essence, bitching about CoD is just part of the CoD experience.

The simple answer is all of them

No fan base will ever be happy and they will always pick at small things, dispute about them and have arguments on the devolpers forum.

But to pick one I'd say the Dynasty Warriors fan base - if you look at the games every time something is added in, it's removed due to complaint for the next game. Either that or they get bitched at for having the history slightly off (big issue was a character called Liu Chan when it should have been Shan... yeah that petty)

A lot of fans are self entitled, whiney bitches, and are only ever satisfied if a sequal ends up being exactly like it's predecessor.
And even then there'll be complaints that it's too similar, they didn't change enough etc. Some people are never happy

Legend of Zelda fanboys can be pretty annoying.Despite the series being consistently high quality(we'll just conveniently ignore the CDi games)they always find something to complain about

Majora's Mask -Waaa it's not identical to Ocarina of Time

Wind Waker - Waaa the graphics are too cartoony and childish

Twilight Princess - Waaa it's too similar to Ocarina

Phantom Hourglass - Waaa you have to revisit the same temple several times(this complaint does have some merit though)

Spirit Tracks - Waaa you're limited in where you can go by the train

Skyward Sword - Waaa the graphics aren't realistic enough

They have a right to complain, most sonic games are trash now-a-days. I heard the one for the DS was good though.

They give us FFXIII, albeit a bit slow at start, the game is actually pretty impressive and fast-paced once you force yourself to get to disc two. But of course, twas hated. In fact, you could argue the entire JRPG fanbase is being far too picky this gen.

*phew* Needed a breath after that.

a bit slow? at the start? You do realize its over 30 hours (Half the game) that is 'slow.' Also, no game should make you 'force' yourself to get through it. If this is true, then the game has failed.

I could argue why this is, imo, the worst major release is video game history, but I have written it out to many times already on these forums.

Oh come on Ita not like it was actually a bad game (It was a fucking excellent game) it was just different, in fact it wasnt even that that different[/B] (hell I didnt even notice the difference other than,...wow this is actually better) and I dont think DA2 is as horrible as the peopel on this site are making out (granted I havnt played it yet) It just looks *gasp* different!! ( the whole "dumbing down" argument aside...I dont even care)

*sigh* ok fangirlism aside Gamers and nerds in general tend to be unpleasable

Hey some people have different opinions so let's call them fanboys and make a thread discussing exactly how impossible to please they are!

Virtually any first person shooter fan base , they are never happy no matter what changes are made. And they will be exactly the same until they realize nearly every first person shooter is the same ( okay they're sometimes in different settings or with different styles but the idea and multi-player is usually identical ) and that the fps market needs some innovation

Yeah, they had a play-style similiar enough to the original's while still having enough improvement to them to make them worthwhile (though Sonic rush adventure decided to add a touch screen "drive yourself over to the destination via jet-ski or whatever boat you're using, as well as extremely hard missions). The main problem for sonic is that his main console games are, from what I've heard, haven't play Sonic '06 that much or unleashed, is that they're crap.

Funnily enough it's the fan bases of games like Zelda and Mario who don't complain as much; when the core gameplay hasn't changed for over a decade.

Fan bases tend to whine over change; whether good or bad. (Of course good and bad being selective views)

I literally hve slapped someone for this kind of complaining because it is THAT annoying...

DigitialAtlas is somewhat correct, except this is a genuine problem we've discovered and are trying to correct with new game types. People can get very quick exposure to many different games, so captivating the player early on is more important than you might think. Sorry, but you're wrong; Half-Life 2 was pretty interesting and unusual to me from the beginning. Minecraft got me curious from the outset as I learned what I could do. WoW..........I'm not about to defend.

Anyway. I would say, the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney fanbase. Or rather, a more specific part of it. NOT INCLUDING ME.

"Hey, fans! Are you ready for the next Ace Attorney game?"
"YAAAAY! Does it have Miles Edgeworth in it?"
"Sure does! In fact, he's the main character this time!"
"Does he finally CONFESS HIS LOVE to Phoenix Wright???"
"......"

I loved FFXIII.

I don't play rpgs for the gameplay, I play them purely for the story, the gameplay is just something with which you experience the story, nothing more.

People who complain about the game opening up after 20 hours fail to realize that only the gameplay opens up then, the story opens up from before you even play the game since they released the novels of the events leading up to the game online and reading those had me already in love with the story of the game.

The gameplay may take a while to get going but the story is always there, it is why I play the game and it WAS what enabled me to finish the game in just 5 days (yes, 50 hours in 5 days). I'm sure people who focused on the gameplay can't say the same about their experience with this game so I think what we have here is a problem of the way people go into their games.

Oh and another thing, I imported the game from Japan, it may be a minor thing but I believe the voice acting in such a story-heavy game really matters and it was a huge element of my enjoyment of the title, maybe if more people didn't just play a dub but actually tried the original version their experiences would have been better.

Then again, I also love FFVIII which is another love it or hate it thing (VII was great but not the god of games or something, I honestly prefer Legend of Dragoon to it) so who knows :p.

A lot of fans are self entitled, whiney bitches, and are only ever satisfied if a sequal ends up being exactly like it's predecessor. Just looks at the whole DA2 mess.

The game is more streamlined.

"Nuhuh! It's dumbed down for the console tards!"

Character archetypes are not as important, so it's not as necessary to always have a 2 mage 1 tank set up, the same level of tactics is still required at higher levels.

"Nuhuh! It's just easier!"

The dialogue wheel streamlines conversation, making a more fun engaging conversation system.

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAH! DRAGON EFFECT 2! WAAAAAAAAH!"

I could do this all day...
This. So much this.
The sheer numbers of people bitching because they feel entitled has made me feel physically sick every time I see a Dragon Age 2 thread.

Or 'WAAAAAAAH, MASS EFFECT 2 IS A SHOOTER BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE TO UPDATE YOUR ARMOUR EVERY LEVEL TO GET A +1 TO DERPABILITY!!'

Dear god. Some people.
music to my ears, seriously Im jsut actually happy hearing somone not trash DA2

at this point
I do not know how Duke Nukem can possible impress its fans enough to justify the 10 year delay. I mean, nothing short of this game elevating games to a recognized artistic medium, its writers earning noble prizes in literature, while it still is as violent and agressive and non-cover based shooter as possible, all the while keeping true to the previous installments.

It will still be good, but it will inevitably fall short
Only because of doom sayers like you buddy, most of the actual fans will be ecstatic to get their hands on the thing. I mean, so what if its had a weird development history, its here now (almost) and thats is all the matters, and it will be judged, by me, purely on its own merits as a game.

Here's the beauty of this: Half-Life 2 is a game you need to force yourself to get to a certain point. Mass Effect bores people until after the Citadel. WoW is a game you need to force yourself to play until you beat for it to be entertaining.
You know what, I didn't have to force myself to play any portion of these games and to be frank anyone to does have to force themselves though them needs to seriously grow some attention span.
