The track 'Injection' by Hans Zimmer, from the M:I-2 score never ceases to grab my heart strings and start dragging me around with them.

From a game, I think 'Vortal Combat' from Half Life 2: Ep2 is fantastic, really gets my adrenalin flowing and regularly forms part of my playlist when I'm getting ready to go out.

inspirational as "pumping up": Star Ocean 3 - Influence of Truth Appearance, the moment that blaring trumpet begins the piece, all I want to do is run at something and chop it to pieces.

inspirational as powerful: Legend of Mana - Song of Mana, best ending theme by far, truly an epic piece of music that's well composed, and very moving.

inspirational as emotional: Shadow Hearts main theme, my favorite is the piano version from SH3, everytime that song is played during a sad scene I can't help but get a little choked up.

I simply have to say it: The end credits to just about every Star Wars movie, especially Ep. III, IV, V, and VI.....

You know, it's just cool and everything like that- plus, it's a good recapitulation of most of the leitmotifs (character theme songs) featured in the movie

The theme music to 28 Days Later, In The House - In A Heartbeat. Fantastic, rocky melancholy that I could listen to on repeat for a month and still not be sick of it.

"You're Not Alone" - Final Fantasy IX: Click For Linkage [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHsXNkI1rfA]

It's such an awesome track. Brilliant atmosphere with a powerful crescendo. It's from the part of the game where Zidane has just spoken to Garland and discovered his 'purpose' and he loses all faith and tries to walk away from it all.

I like the tune so much I learned to play it on my ocarina! :D

My absolute favorite would be the menu music for Evil Genius. That's my favorite part of the game. It just sounds so...Bond. I find myself humming it occasionally.

In terms of games, I hate to be tediously unoriginal but for me it begins and ends with the Final Fantasy series. Although 'inspiring' is a somewhat vague term, to my mind there is no positive attribute that cannot be attributed to certain pieces of FF music. Favourites are the inevitable One Winged Angel, Liberi Fatali and Eternity ~Memories of Waves and Light~.

As for films... I find it hard to apply the word 'inspiring'. I think the soundtrack to Sunshine was awesome, and the soundtrack to Amadeus contained some of the best music ever written (naturally enough).

Original Colony Wars for PS1, the good ending ("All my life all I've known are the sounds of war. Now all around me echo the noises of the Rebuilding. It's something I've never heard before...it's a strange music to me." Or something. Gimme a break, that was like 14 years ago) Very inspirational, very John Williams-esque.

Also, getting off the elevator in Hong Kong, Deus Ex 1.

I've easily beaten all of you. Nothing will ever trump this song in motivational value OR beauty.

Why didn't I mention this in my previous post?

Fantasia Alla Marcia

Seriously, that is one of the only pieces of music I can only refer to as simply "epic". To hear it orchestrated live would certainly bring me to tears, if not to my knees.

That song on Warhawk when you leave it on the main menu. Good theme to listen to while getting ready for battle
