The guys in the recent Tomb Raider games. I mean what was so wrong with having the ability to lock your elderly butler in the freezer?

Alyx Vance from Half Life 2 is a feat of a character. She somehow manages to be the worst shoehorned in love interest (With a character who we have no evidence of being anything more than a floating pair of hands), worst token minority, worst tagalong sidekick (When the sidekick is actually in gunfights and you need to keep them alive), and lifetime achievement.
Wow.....I sooooo hope your ready for the torrent of morons Valve fanboys telling you that you're wrong and you need to go to hell. But yeah, I back you, but I still think Freeman is a robot, he shows no emotion, no sentient thought, he just shoots things & solves puzzles, he is more than a flaoting pair of hands, but deffinately not human.
Keeping Alyx alive can be a ***** yeah. Seriously, why can't she keep her own damn self alive? Stupid bint. As Gordon, well, there are a few mirrors around the game where you see him. But, he is kinda silent and therefor unemotional. Guess you're ment to place yourself in his shoes or something...
I'm telling ya, he isn't human, he is a robot. He just kills, like a well oiled machine. Your right about Alyx though, she hasafreakin gun, she seems to be pretty good with it, so why is she so rubbish!

Kreia. You knew she was evil. She talked evil. She acted evil. I knew she was going to betray me--she even all but said so! Yet the stupid railroad plot meant I couldn't do anything about it, or get rid of her. I didn't care about her advice, I knew what I was doing, yet she just wouldn't leave me alone. (Plus she kept getting between me and Atton. Boo.)
Kreia isn't evil. She's twisted sure, and detrimental to the galaxy, but she isn't evil. She's more of a misguided neutral. IMO. Besides, she's an absolutely awesome character.

As for my most irritating support character? Wakka. Lord.
Ack. Stepped in one of the biggest KOTOR 2 beartraps. Look, I know she was meant to be neutral, she probably even thought she was, but when she lures a Sith Lord to Telos to eat the whole planet, and murders three people right in front of you, my sympathy for her neutrality goes out of a window and down the gutter. If it quacks like a duck, and walks like a duck, I'm going to treat it like a duck (and kill it with my lightsaber). :)

Still, to stay on topic: I found Kreia to be irritating as a support character, but that was largely due to the ridiculous plot that required me to be totally oblivious, and her endless bloody pontificating. I couldn't even get away from her by leaving her on the ship, because she was stuck in my head complaining about everything I did and saying every decision I made was wrong. It's like having Morrigan in your party, only she's sitting on your shoulder throughout the entire game, criticising your sword technique and fashion sense.

And I forgot to mention Juhani from the original KOTOR. Yes. You are a sad cat lady whose world was destroyed. I get it. Now please, please STOP WHINING.

Annoying support characters?
-SWAT4. Your other officers.
There is no, I repeat, NO POSSIBLE WAY you can top these guys.
You stand ANYWHERE near them. You get "You're standing in my spot sir."

They refuse to obey orders when there is any known suspect active, even if he cannot reach or shoot at you (say, through a window. running down some stairs..etc).

That doesn't sound bad? Then consider this: Most missions will take upwards of 20 minutes to complete. If you screw up, be prepared to repeat this process.

Now I love SWAT4, but this one major nuisance is probably the only reason I don't play it as often anymore. It's like having someone poke you in the back of the head every two minutes, and there's nothing you can do to stop it.

Well Sheba was just Ivan with better stats, and the party buffs were, I would argue, indispensable.
Oh, I totally agree.

Here's the story about the whole "Ivan sucking" matter.

In context...
Golden Sun 1: Ivan is a monster all the way up until the very end of the game (when equipment overtakes psyenergy attacks). He's really fast, so his spells will nearly always go first, and he has the deepest reservoir of power points, so he can do this often.
Late game, most of his best classes have access to Impact and High Impact and Ward.
His high speed lets him block nukes with Flash 100% of the time. Kite-Flash is powerful in any circumstance, and Ivan is the best suited to abusing this.

Plus he's a telepath. Which is just fun to dick around with.

Bottom line: Ivan is quite useful in Golden Sun 1 even up to the end.

Golden Sun 2...Sheba's better. In every conceivable way. But that's because of the Felix-Isaac-Mismatch. What is that? Well..look at the main roles every character in the original played..
-Isaac (earth) = Beatstick
-Garret (fire) = Beatstick
-Ivan (wind) = Spell slinger.
-Mia (water) = Healer.

In Golden Sun 2...

-Felix (earth) = Beatstick
-Jenna (fire) = Spell slinger
-Sheba (wind) = Spell slinger
-Piers (water) = Beatstick

The roles (by adept type) changed for half the party. So the other half (the Wind and Earth adepts) didn't. Why? Because Felix is the protagonist, and therefore must be a beatstick.
This leaves a void in the main role roster...that Sheba has to fill. So, Sheba, by default will be taking Ivan's place entirely in the same manner that Felix took Isaac's.

Thus, the Wind adepts become largely worthless since equipment is far more powerful.
However, Felix is always useful because he's the protagonist, and therefore a beatstick.

I'm amazed no-one's mentioned him, but Cole from Gears of War 2 (I've not played the first one, but I imagine he was in that too).

In a game full of dreadful characters, he's the loudest, most roided-up macho chump of them all. So annoying.

Also, I have it on good authority that the other Gears laugh at him behind his back.

Any of the scientists/barnies you meet in Half-Life 1. They're really useless besides being scapegoats for zombies or free ammo/weapons.
I found them to be really useful actually.

Those who say that Navi is annoying, there is a character worse than that!
That damn owl annoyed more way more than Navi ever did!
no way, at least you could skip through most of the owls speeches throughout most of the game and ignore him. navi never left you alone.
the skipping part made it worse in so many ways... everytime the owl talks to you, you hammer on the A button to make him SKIP IT, and then a window pops up where he asks "do you understand" and the arrow is on the "no" button per default..

you can guess what happens to me at least once everytime I encounter him -.-

the really evil part is, you get more furius in pressing the A button because youre already hearing it for the second time, so if you didn't remember how many text windows popped up, you fall for the same trick twice

This sums up my opinions quite well.

i still don't understand why people think she's so bad
The guy is pretty straight with it: she is useless in combat, annoying personality, and is there for no reason except to be there.
she worked fine in combat for me. she's not that annoying try watching some anime series if you haven't. and last of all she's there because she's apart of the story

pointless opinion on my part no one cares anyway.

I just clicked this thread to check that everyone was saying Navi. I'm stunned by the number of people not saying Navi. To everyone who has encountered a character more irritating than Navi, I'm... sorry. I'm really sorry for you.

What is the most absolute, most irritating Support Character in the world? For me, it's a tie between Navi from Legend of Zelda, and Otacon.
Haha, first thing that popped into my head was those annoying fairies.
