Most/Least favorite FF party members?

Most favourite: Nearly all of characters from FF XIII. Even Fang, although the story hasn't revealed much back-story about her yet. I find them all likeable. Add to the likeable list Yuna and Auron from FFX, Barret and Red XIII from FFVII.

Least favourite: Seymour, Seymour, Seymour, Seymour, Seymour, Seymour from FFX.
He's actually taken up all my dislike for all the other FF characters. Has awesome hair, though.
It's still the only thing I like about him.

My Faves:
1.) Edgar (FFVI) Air Anchor. "Move and you're dead!" 'nuff said.
2.) Sabin (FFVI) Blitz. Ryu on 'roids. (one of his WEAK attaks is Shinku-hadouken)
3.) Orlandu Cid (Tactics) Most overpowered old dude ever. Cid=Win
4.) all of the dragoon characters: Kain (IV), Cid (VII), Freya (IX), Kimari (FFX) Spears from the sky!!
5.) Vincent (FFVII): Badass transforming monster with a wicked gun. (lost points for Dirge of Cerberus, sorry Vinnie)

Least Favorite:
Red XIII (FFVII) As cool as the awesome talking dog is, I could never find a good use for him.
Yuffie (FFVII) *cough*
Steiner (FFIX) Comic relief but mostly useless... goofy knight.
Porom (FFIV) little punk. if I didn't need him for Twincast...

Most underrated:
Mog, Gau, and Umaro (FFVI): Team them up together with Cyan and they'll attack while you charge sword moves...

Most Overrated: *puts flame suit on*
Auron: He's Cloud and Vincent meshed together. Cool, but... yeah...

Oh yeah, that's the one. He just grated the fuck out of my nerves. He was funny... in the first 2 hours. He did get a lot better towards the end though.

Best:
- Vincent Valentine, uber powerful with one hell of a story.
- Reno, just a brilliant character... and most likely wont fight you because, well, hes off duty.
- Wakka, actually a VERY good Blitzball player if you hire him later on and train him up from level 3.
- Kimahri Ronso, for the smile.
- Red XIII (Nanaki), have you seen the scene with Seto?
- Sir Auron, I was thinking about leaving him off the list because of how many mentions he has had prior to this but I couldnt.
- Zell, the introduction to him is awesome!
- Irvine, gotta love guns.
- Balthier, what part of "gotta love guns" didnt you get?
- Bahamut, come on... I cant believe he hasnt got more recognition.
- Firion, the first actual character with a pre-set name.

Worst:
- Vaan, dont get me started on that idiot.
- Tidus, cries all the time.
- Cloud (in drag), thats a wierd series of events for an 8 year old.
- Zidane Tribal, the beginning of the really lame main characters.

Galuf from 5 is actually my favorite character I think.

The turn based combat system never really did it for me so I ended up playing Kingdom Hearts and liked that much better

I loved Kingdom Hearts.

Although I also have consistently enjoyed the Final Fantasy games as well.

OP: Most Favorite: Auron (like you said, pure badass) and Yuna (for the Aeons).
Least Favorite: Vann from 12 (he sexually confuses me) and Kimahri from 10 (he is one of the least interesting characters in gaming for me).

Vivi (FF9): He's a black mage, so useful but the main reason I like him is that he is the coolest character with the best story in any FF I've played (FF7-13).
Tifa: Final Heaven (or whatever her final limitbreak was called) was awesome
Red XIII: Come on, he just SCREAMS cool
Auron: Same as Red

Dont like:
Entire FF13 cast
most of FF8 cast made me feel MEH. While I didnt really dislike them they were genereally pretty dull, except Quistis. (And of course the star couple Squall/Rinoa)
Entire FF12 cast, seldom have I cared so little for characters in an rpg
Tidus: That voice made me cry manly tears.

The lack of games before Final Fantasy VII in this thread is making me feel old and sad.

If you're talking about gameplay wise, when you first get Fu So Ya from Final Fantasy IV, you can't tell me you didn't suddenly feel like a bad a$$... also Celes' "Runic" ability in Final Fantasy VI is the most useful underrated battle mechanic in any of the games.

Personality wise I definitely have to give it to the entire main cast of Final Fantasy VI for more reasons than you care to read.

No... just no. If any character, in any Final Fantasy has any reason to have emo-tendencies... it's Hope. The kid had to watch his mother die... seriously... are you supposed to be happy after that? Just suck it up? He's young teen who was obviously close with his mother who was a very strong (and busty) person... and she literally had to sacrifice herself to protect him... not only would you feel responsible, but your only tie to the world is gone, not to mention everything you have to go through after... give the kid a break.

If you wanna beat up on someone for being unecessarily emo, beat up on Squall.

Hope kinda grated on me at first for this reason until I thought of what's going through his mind. He's not sitting there sulking. He's plotting. Plotting to get revenge on Snow for his mother's horrific death. And he almost does.
