I'd have to say a recent example is Diablo 3.

My buddy got it, got me to play it, but I find I'm just slugging along, which I don't get. I can dive into most games without issue, but Diablo 3 just comes off incredibly underwelming. Perhaps it's because I never played Diablo 1+2, or maybe it has to do with the incredibly small attack pool early on (not to mention no dedicated Normal Attack button if you want to use your other ability) and lack of character customization...

Idk, I just find it mediocre, which sucks cause I REALLY wanted to like the game.

I'm trying really hard to enjoy Skyward Sword right now, but the controls really seem to ruin the experience for me. It's like they wanted to make zelda as gimmicky as possible. I'm by far not a zelda hater as I absolutely adored Twilight princess.

I remember playing Lost Planet and just thinking, "Eh. I guess I can keep playing this. I don't really wanna, but it's more fun than just sitting here."

Yeah, I'm going to have to say: Portal, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time & Wind Waker, Bioshock, Okami, Mega Man 2 & 3, Silent Hill 2, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Deus Ex, Batman: Arkham City, MGS3, RE4, Super Mario Galaxy 2, FFVI, FFIX and FF tactics, Half Life 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Shenmue, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario Bros 3, Super Street Fighter 4, Suikoden II, Persona 4, Secret of Mana, Earthbound, Disgaea, Bahamut Lagoon, Front Mission, Growlanser II and III, Der Langrisser, Ogre Tactics 64, Seiken Densetsu 3, Actraiser, and Kingdom Hearts. All painfully, PAINFULLY mediocre titles. Seriously, I can barely even remember half of their names.

Killzone 2, I felt no urge to play and everything just felt like you were extremely floaty and the gun mechanics felt strange and awful.

I shall invoke some people's wrath here, but...

Temple of Elemental Evil. It could have been great.

Oh yeah and Impossible Creatures. Sure mix-matching them beasties was advertised as fun, but then there were only a few useful combos.

Mindjack.

All these other games are hits and people keep forgetting what a mediocre game really is. Try Timeshift or Fracture guys.

You liked the black sheep? o.0

As for Skyward Sword, are they not responding well or are you just not getting the hang of them? Once you get them down, it's actually QUITE intuitive. Believe me, I thought it was going to be bad. Beyond bad. Like, I thought it was going to be Wii Sports Resort- Now with walking between mini-games! But I was waaaaaay off!

I didn't say Conker: Live and Reloaded is bad. I'm just saying I didn't liked it. Personal Preferences
Yeaaaa.... Everyone who says that game is censored makes me laugh.

"He says arse!!! THIS GAME IS SHIT!!!!"

>The original says "arse" because Gregg is cockney
>Even the big pile of poo was censored in the original

It's mostly the same with people having some large memory failures. The controls are much tighter, making end game much more fun to play.

Not worst, don't start saying CoD is SO mediocre, it's TERRIBLE.
Fanboy rage...rising...

Just wanna say cod 4: modern warfare and world at war are excellent games.

As far as mediocre games go, I have to say Mercenaries 2. I loved the first mercenaries, gave me hours of sandbox roaming fun. I loved the first installment so badly i forced myself to try to like the second one. Wound up just making myself sad.

Fixed that for ya.

World at War is such a copy of CoD4 in a WWII costume that it's sad half the time.

The Old Republic. I honestly felt that Bioware should have just made KotOR3 and called it a day. It probably would have looked nicer too, but noooo they have to make an ugly MMO with crappy cutscene animation and horrible endgame to spoil my experience as a Sith Lord. I had much more fun with that game leveling and doing the class story than I ever did doing the incredibly forgettable dungeons and frustratingly terrible pvp.

You are grey sweatshirt guy.

Whoa? Begowtch! Out of curiosity, what did you specifically find so mediocre about it? Why did it fail to tickle your fancy?

Oh trust me I absolutely adored every minute of twilight princess. Just thinking about that game makes me giddy.

It's not that I think skyward sword is a bad game, I just can't seem to get used to it. It's little things like coming back after a couple days break and totally forgetting how to fly the bird or bring up the inventory or especially aiming link as he's sky falling down somewhere that kill my motivation. It just does not seem right for me. And the dungeons just seem so generic, the first one had absolutely nothing interesting to it and right after that? generic lava level. It all just comes down to alot of minor annoyances equaling to one big one, but it's still worth playing.

I love TP, myself. Still, it had A LOT of problems. One of my favorites, wish it didn't have a giant plot hole, or that it used items better, though.

I'll say it now: stick with it. It gets better.

If you're having trouble aiming things about, make sure things like blue tooth devices aren't near the wii-motion plus. When calibrating, I never sit the wiimote on a flat service and it works great for me. I just hold it straight and face down by my side, usually with my arm cocked if need be.

I find the fluidity in SS's controls are simply divine and reason enough to play the game.

The lava level? I'll give you this. It *looked* incredibly generic. In fact, it strongly resembled Wind Waker's (my favorite, tied with Majora's Mask) lava dungeon. But the gameplay and strong use of items like the beetle and the boulder puzzles made it much more enticing. Just try to make it farther and trust me on this. You will be pleased. Maybe not with the desert coming up next, but after.

Homefront. Also, the last AvP. So upsetting since I enjoyed the old ones.

The halo series, nothing screams generic and bland like that group of games.
Yeah I'm with you here I really don't see what the fuss is about in any way or form. It's a competent title but nothing special.
