Final Fantasy 10.

Sin is Jecht

Seymour is evil

The Final Aeon will kill Yuna

Tidus is just a dream of the Fayth

Auron is dead

Fucking awesome game.
You couldn't see Seymour being evil? Really?
I agree with the other twists though. Great game, great plot.

Mulholland drive. That film was pretty messed up! Good twist if you understood what was going on... which I did not. Friend had to explain it to me

I only watched the 1st season. And that still made no fucking sense. Will EVERYTHING be explained in the 2nd?
Indeed, it reveals all that is going on, and why it is happening.
I prefer it to the first, to be honest. It is definitely worth watching, even if only to make sense of the first season.

Wait, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, I was only aware of the 1st one
Indeed, it is the 'Resolution' season, and as I said above, most worth watching.
There is also a 5 episode 'season' called Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei, the 'Gratitude' season. Part of it is good, but it was just made in gratitude to all the fans of the franchise. It has some 'fan-service' on the first episode, but a couple of the episodes are more in the true higurashi fashion.

Rather than repeat most of the awesome twists mentioned here already I'll just say how shocked I am that no one's mentioned Braid yet. After that game was over I just stared at the screen in disbelief for like 5 minutes.
I still don't understand why Braid's ending was so effective; there was no discernible plot that made sense to anyone who doesn't have 10 hours to analyze all that writing, and yet seeing that scene play backwards and realizing you were the bad guy... even without a plot around it that twist was amazing.

I watched oldboy a couple of weeks ago. Man...that film wouldn't have gotten made here. But I recommend it if you like having your mind blown.
Oldboy is one for certain. When talking about series, Dexter is worth of mentioning.

am currently in the process of reading consider phlebas, so dont ruin it for me, but so far its looking interesting. very baroque quality to both, despite being set in space :S
It's his best apart from Use of Weapons, in my opinion. It starts off a little slow, but it gets absolutely fantastic later on. How much of it have you read?
up to the point where they attak a temple place, i went on festive holiday recently for an obvious reason and forgot it, which was a bad move

The ending to the the film Of Mice and Men. Jesus, that was sad...
You do realize that pretty much every major event in that book was foreshadowing what would happen right? There was no other way it could have ended. "I should've killed my own dog myself..."

I love that book, but it wasn't surprising.
I still have yet to read to book, but I didn't really notice the foreshadowing in the film...

Some very good picks so far that i agree with. So I'll just spend the time and say one i haven't seen yet which was The Prestige. One of the greatest movie endings ever.
I was totally going to write that. And not only the ending, the whole film is all suspense and twists. I loved it. And the ending - Mind = Blown.

Other than that, I'd like to mention The Fight Club, The Sixth Sense, Bioshock mid-game reveal (best cutscene ever, IMO), Braid (I was like DUUUUUUUUUDE) and Citizen Kane (which made me cry).

Thats my favorite twist and favorite movie ever. When I saw it in the cinema the sound of 200 people collectively gasping and their jaws hitting the floor simultaneously was awesome.

Favorite videogame twist was probably the phone conversation between Ocelot and the President at the end of Metal Gear Solid. That was totally awesome at the time.
