Yo!

Just wanted to know what the most random, weird, obscure music is you've ever heard?

I just found these videos for Sleepytime Gorilla Museum:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gD_5Tp7W-Gg&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELyco68w5ks&NR=1

Then there's the Residents:

I personally find this kind of music hilarious and certainly gets me awake first thing in the morning.

Anyone got anything weirder?

I'm gonna have to say Pirate / Viking metal is pretty obscure. Well, people I know think I'm weird for listening to it.

I listened to a band called Stalagh. They have some pretty bizarre music with screams said to have been recorded in an asylum.

Does Pitchshifter count as obscure? I don't know anyone else who has heard them. If not then no I don't know any really obscure music.

well i'm the only listener on last.fm for a band called Channel 23. they're a jazz/rock group that are pretty good.

other stuff is The Big Sleep in Search of Hades, which I think is the one man side project of another band(i'll have to look it up)

I tend to listen to a lot of obscure stuff. I like it.

I wouldn't call them obscure. I would call them awesome though.

Caveman Bob and the Bobettes, I saw a video for them on an really strange DVD a friend of mine got several years ago. The song was all about Godzilla and I can not find it anywhere. I am starting to believe it never really existed, but it was awesome.

Edit: Mr. Bungle, or most anything Mike Patton does as well.

Some music by Ryoji Ikeda [http://www.ryojiikeda.com/]. That's pretty obscure...

Meh, its not my normal choice but they do have some great songs. The other bands you mentioned, well...?

"Abney Park", "Vernian Process", and this weird Middle Eastern Techno Folk Americana that we listen to in our kitchen due to our sous-chef. Yeah, its a little odd.

Nothing is obscure as the internet was invented and has been widespread for about 15 years now. STGM is my best friend's favorite band and has been at least for 6 years. I'll just plug a band I like; The Gutter Twins. Buy their albums so they will make more for me to listen to thank you.

Theyv'e popped up on my LastFM recommendations. I've listened to them but I'm not sure if I like it or not.

EDIT: Most obscure thing I've listened to is probably Shaimus or Fuzzy and Blue.

Merzbow
Malador
Mike Patton's Adult Themes for Voice
Coil
Zoviet France

something from there is pretty darn obscure, tho it depends on what you mean by obscure. either obscure in the sound or the rarity of the bands themselves

I went through the whole Sleepytime Gorilla Museum thing a while ago, but my main musical turnaround was when I was doing my whole "LOLMETAL" thing, listening to SYSTEM OF A DOWN BECAUSE I WAS SO FREAKIN' HARDCOAR AND STUFF AMIRITE?

Anyway, my friend introduced me to Sigur Ros, which I initially thought was complete shit, but gradually grew on me, until I turned into a well proper indyfag. Currently listening to Fingerbib - Aphex Twin.

Edit - I still crank SOAD every so often. I get bored :]
