most reliable, the first pistol you start with. Somehow most games that is all I need to get through them.

most unreliable: the Ripper from Unreal Tournament, most people I have seen use that end up decapitating themselves or burning through the ammo before they hit anyone. I tend to actually run away from people and shoot the wall ahead and dodge the blades as they bounce back past me, now that is effective cover fire!

I remember the Bio weapon in UT99 fully loaded and 1 blast takes all the 199health and 150 armor :O

Also the flak cannon was anoying.

Heh my friend was a damn good flak monkey. Bio gun was a bit overpowered but if you got hit by it you kind of deserved it.

Desert Eagle. Its in most games, and it always comes through. I mean, its not the stealthiest weapon, but if youre using a desert eagle, youve pretty much given up on that already

May I ask about that for a moment? I understand the higher degree of power that an Eagle has, but also that it doesn't have the ammo-count of a Magnum. For a small sacrifice in caliber, you're getting more bullets for a still-viable hand-cannon, right?

OT: Magnum's not my choice, though. I'm going to take the "SPR-4" assault rifle from Extermination. It IS an assault rifle, but made to have additions like flamethrower, grenade launcher, and so on. It's also fictional, but hey...who said anything about reality?

Scoped shotgun. Rocket varieties exist as well.

You ever play Doom? No matter how far away the target was as long as they were in the middle of the screen the shotgun would destroy them lol.

Im afraid ive misinterpreted this thread (dont judge me, I did read the OP.). I was under the impression that it was about a weapon that you can find in many games and was consistently good.

Ill still defend the Desert Eagle though. While the Magnum has more bullets, Its a revolver. that raised multiple issues. such as being harder to reload (unless you have a cool easy reload thing), and having worse recoil. The Desert Eagle uses a magazine ammo system, so its a lot easier for everyone and their dog to use. As long as they dont mind dislocating a shoulder.

Your research is accurate enough. And I wasn't calling you on it either. I think that the problem of dislocation (namely, because of an Eagle's power) is probably worse than powerful recoil. Rather, it's a recoil extreme. Bigger caliber, more blowback. I think the Desert Eagle is in there alot because of Rule Of Cool. (And since it features in Duke Nukem: Time To Kill, I'm alright with that.)

Still, some find clip-loading guns more difficult. It happens at times. The simple revolver mechanism isn't as easy, but I'll say reliable in that you can't mistake it either. Maybe you've seen some movie where a guy's got the wrong ammo in the clip or the clip's been sabotaged or something. You couldn't pull sneaky stuff on a guy's revolver.

I've nothing against Desert Eagles. They're sweet machines of ballistic goodness. However, I think they're like the SUV of guns when a decent pick-up truck will do.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to say about safeties and chambering the bullet. People miss that sometimes.

Depends. If we are talking melee, then sword and shield is the basic, if we are talking ranged, then it would be a shotgun.
