Game? Jade Empire, did not see THAT coming.

Movie? Moon, the 'main' twist is something you'll figure out from the trailer but the other two 'twists' I can remember offhand were pretty cool. One because it was a massive subversion of what you'd typically expect from a movie like that and the other because I genuinely did not expect it.

If you get a chance to see this movie but haven't seen the trailer yet, I highly recommend NOT watching the trailer beforehand.

The obvious one is that the main character Sam is a clone, you'll figure that out really quick watching the trailer hence my comment to not watch that beforehand. Not that it matters if you're reading the spoiler anyway...

The 'twist' that actually kind of surprised me was that he'd been cloned a whole bunch of times and that 'original him' was still alive on Earth. The scene of him talking to 'his' now teenaged daughter over the video-phone was probably one of the saddest parts of the whole movie.

Lastly when I saw the computer GERTY for the first time I rolled my eyes and said to myself "Pff, it's evil and going to try to kill him or something." I was pleased to see a subversion of typical 'movie AIs' when it turned out that it wasn't actually evil exactly and helped them in the end.

The post-nuke walkies & death your American character does in COD4:MW. I replayed the level three times looking for a health pack or something....

The first plot-twist that blew my mind in a game was in System Shock 2 when you found out that Dr. Janice Polito, who was guiding your actions the whole time, was dead and you were actually following SHODAN's commands. Bioshock's creators (who also created SS2) used the exact same device for Andrew Ryan in Bioshock.

But I agree with the above posters. KOTOR's plot twist was absolutely mind-blowing. It made so much sense and was such a cool role-playing part of the game. I think it was the BEST plot-twist of any game... maybe any movie too. It was so cool and it gave you a real depth to your decision to go either dark side or light side.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic plot twist was pretty awesome indeed. My vote, however still goes to Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge ending twist. Here's video of it if you're willing to SPOIL it for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUb8BXL8xWU

This. Blew my tiny mind. So much of what he said was foreshadowing it too, Total jaw on the floor moment.

The radio said ?No, John. You are the demons?
And then John was a zombie.

More realistically, I'd go with Bioshock too (The entire reveal in Ryan's office).

Seriously, why did you put the twist at the end for those who haven't had a chance to play it yet?

OT: When Bruce Willis was [censored] at the end of Sixth Sense. {prompt someone to start singing "Jizz In My Pants" :)}
AND I JIZZ IN MY PANTS!!

*better not be ninjas!

when [insert name] just up's and decides to stop helping you in, uncharted 2, that pissed me off, and annoyed me, THAT GODDAMN TRAIN! *rage*

Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean.

You know the one.

I'm a girl, and that twist left me walking funny. The game as a whole was average at best. It did have some glorious moments shining through the verbose JRPG pitfalls, despite it's horrendous ending. But everyone remembers it for the plot twist.

I'm still new on The Escapist, so I don't know if I'm going to be torn to bits for mentioning a fairly obscure JRPG.

The ending of Jak 3, when you find out about who the precursors, was in my opinion the biggest let down of storytelling twist ever. It sucked away any hopes of me taking the trilogy seriously again. Shame, since Jak 1 was such a good game too.

I know I'm riding the bandwagon, but the Bioshock twist was great.

I was gonna say about that twist damn beated me to it. Great game, one of my favourites on the gamecube (i liked it more than final fantasy 10 even O.O) and the game is not as obscure as you might think. A couple of people including myself have mentioned it on these forums before.

anyway welcome to the escapist it's nice to have more people of the female gender come and post here

Fahrenheit (or Indigo Prophecy if your not British) starts off as a mystery thriller and becomes a sci fi futuristic wank pile.

Tales of synphonia had so many plot twists that i just couldnt take it anymore. I finished the brilliant game but after my main quest changing aims before I even finished them confused me.

SPOILER

When you find out your whole quest so far is pointless and only continues the cycle of pain and death, everything you achieved so far is pointless and all the people you killed where actually working for what was actually right. Also parallel dimensions confused me also.

lost. /thread

Two kinds of people watch lost:
People who dont understand lost.
People who think they understand lost.

Plot twists till your brain explodes.
