Mother 3
When Lucas is forced to end his brothers life and the world has to restart. Worth my overpriced money.
Mass Effect 3
Thane. Seriously, how he prays for Shepard, lost it.

This is why I gave up on the game. It was SO EMO!!! Hate me if you will, I never liked turn based RPG's & this was my attempt to give them a shot. I just couldn't get over the whining shite of this game.
Honestly? Based on that response I do hate you - it's such an ignorant response I'm almost shocked you didn't think before you posted it, really it's that kind of post that creates RPG elitists - what you just said is effectively "I don't like it because it was sad"...

It really does explain a lot as to why games never get the same artistic praise as music or film - the reason seems to be people like you. First of all, it seems clear you were out to dislike the game from the off due to the combat system - but ignoring that how on earth can you claim a game like this is "whining shite" - the whole point of the story was to get across the anguish of being immortal and the fact that death is not a bad thing. Yes it's meant to be depressing because, contrary to what most games would have you believe life is depressing. Now I'm not comparing Lost Odyssey to reality, but it certainly has a far greater degree of human emotion and complexity than say Tales of Vesperia, which is by no means a bad game.

And really now "emo" - you're really going to use a buzzword that should have died long ago to describe a game like this? You obviously didn't try to engage with the characters, the plot or the experience as a whole - especially as you didn't get past the first disk. You need to grow up if that's your attitude towards games that go beyond the norm. when it comes to emotion.

EDIT: On reflection I was probably a bit harsh with my wording...

A question - how do you make the text show up before the spoiler hider is opened? It's "Spoiler: Click to view" by default, but how to you change it?
you type in "spoiler=" and then whatever you want before you close the brackets
Cool, thanks

Leliana from DA:O, I destroy the Urn of Sacred Ashes, Leliana has a hissy fit and I have to kill her with neither a healing pot or a healer. (It was my first play through.)

Saddest Death - Anyone in Mass Effect (soon to be Mass Effect 2)...especially since I play as morally good as I can all the time or Edisode 2 (you know who)

Suprising Death - Modern Warfare 2 -(Afghan)- Final kill in a team deathmatch when someone's supply drop slid down the hill and killed me while I was looking the other way

Anyone played Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days?

May stem from a childish game but was a really good ending.

It's one of the obvious answers, but...

When Aerith died. It was so sudden, and so sad, but what really made it memorable was that her theme was playing even through the following boss fight. Brilliant musical design.

The King from Legend of Zelda, the Wind Waker. Though, I guess he shows up in the end as a boat, so he wasn't dead, but the entire ocean crushed him, didn't it? Ah, fuck it.

A few House of the Deads. I can't figure out how to do the spoiler thing, so deal.
The origional, where the first boss kills your gal pal.
The sequel, where Agent G dies right off the bat.
Overkill, where Varla's body gets stolen, though I guess technically her brain's alive.
