Final Fantasy XII. Everyone goes on about how it's not like the other Final Fantasys which is the precise reason why it's so good. Gone with the arbitrary, idealistic love story with a clear main character sided with pointless, no strategy battle sequences; in with a political driven plot with enjoyable, meaningful fights.
At last, that makes two of us who love that game. Please letFFXIII be good too (and at some point in 2010, not 2011), I'm not impressed by the teasers so far.
Oh and Bubble Bobble on the Amiga - whoops, my age is showing.

Plants Vs. Zombies. Picked it up when Steam had a 1/2 off deal. It might not be the best game I've ever played, but it IS the best game I've gotten for my money. Best $5 I ever spent.

Mine was Mass effect, I didn't really like RPG's before M.E., but now not only do I like RPG's, Mass effect was so good that I now feel obligated to buy anything Bioware makes.

Needless to say, I am really looking foward to mass effect 2

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. Damn that game is awesome. Great visuals, total arcade style shootem up, explosion chaos, giant monster fun. You just have to have a super computer to run the damn thing. The story was lame, but when you're high, the Japanese motion-capped actors and silly Japanese to English translation is hilarious.

Shadow of the colossus. Despite the astounding reviews and prizes it won, I was still kinda worried because I'm not a big adventure game fan and the game seemed slow.

It is now my favorite game ever.

Mine was 'Time Hollow' on the nintendo ds. I just decided to play my brothers ds and saw that time hollow was made by konami and involves time travel... so naturally i gave it a go =P
and long story short, i couldnt put it down until i finished it. sure there isnt exactly a lot of gameplay in it but the story is just amazing, and the music really helps make the scenes more powerful. there was one point when this very serious sinister organ music starts to play after your character discovers something rather unusual about a girl in his class and i couldnt help but think 'wow im really worried now' when the music came in.

I know, I played the hell outta that. I enjoyed jumping outta a chopper from 20,000 feet just to parachute safely down in a pool full of babes...

Far Cry 2 I guess. Everyone was complaining about something. Whether it were these forums or Amazon.co.uk reviews. Sure, it was flawed, but I seeing as it's realistic approach and African setting is the polar opposite to the fantasy, run'n'gun-ish gameplay of the original, I really wasn't expecting to like it.

Final Fantasy XII. Everyone goes on about how it's not like the other Final Fantasys which is the precise reason why it's so good. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. You just gave me such a sweet hit of nostalgia.. Far Cry 2.. T'was beautiful.

OT: Warcraft 3 - Sheesh. I spent about a month on the 'real' matches before going to the modified minigame type things.. I was pissed at how much time I lost and could have spent rolling around in ecstacy. :(

Kidding. Drugs aren't [sub]that[/sub] cool, kids.

Haa! I forgot, this too!

Arkham Asylum. I expected a crap game, because you know, it's Batman.

But I came out playing one of the best games I had played in years.

Flamebait much?

OT: Crysis. Saw a friend playing it, and it seemed pretty bland and uninteresting to me, but when he let me try it out, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

Transformers for the PS2 (the one based on the Armada series with Minicon collecting). Just about every other Transformers game (before and arguably since) has sucked but this one was surprisingly fun!

Yes, you should. It's not a movie port, totally original. So much fun, and Mark. Freaking. Hamil as the Joker.

Not really. Just look at previous Batman games. He doesn't have the best track record. I thought this would be no exception, until I played it.

Just noticed this thread as I was passing by to grab my Zero Punctuation fix (hi everyone).

Alone in the Dark (the latest one)

This game got such bad reviews that were simply unjust, I found the game to be awesome and I actually loved the control system. I've actually been trying to get my hands on a copy of the special edition for PS3 but turns out they never made one for the "Inferno" edition. One of my top 10 games of all time.

Star Wars Episode III. Yeah, the movie wasn't great but I really like the game. It's kind of a fighting/platformer. I dunno I love it!

Oh and that 1 vs 100 game from Xbox Live.

Ok, my mistake. I thought that was just a general kind of "BATMAN SUCKS LULZ" comment. Sorry 'bout that.
