Warhammer 40000, easily.
Imagine living in the Imperium where there is only war and nothing else. Fighting constantly against elves from space, robotic zombies, pyschotic cultists, mutants, witches, space dinosaurs, illiterate space orcs who kill for fun and not to mention if you don't do your job or step out of line you get executed.

Minecraft takes the cake for me, because in essence you have no purpose. At least in a world full of horrors and nightmare you would have a reason for living, and are united with others in your fear. In Minecraft, you wander the world aimlessly, hiding from monsters in the dark and are eternally alone.

You just described the God-Emperor of humanity. He can't die, he needs thousands of sacrifices DAILY, he can't move, his will is wrongly explained by those who want personal power and Chaos wants him dead. That's the thing with everyone saying 40K that irks me. You'll just die there, and you'll be dead. A perpetual nightmare, something along the lines of Minecraft and "I have No Mouth And I Must Scream" is much, much worse.
Silent hill - too scary to live in, first it's just like any normal town but it turns out to be one of the most horrifying places ever createddddd!

Mass Effect. At first it would be cool with the interplanetary travel and interesting alien species and cultures, but then a race of ancient and mysterious machines come by and either enslave you, your family, your friends, your dog and your iPod, they then use you to mine every planet in existence before either killing you in some horrific way or turning you into a test subject for their next "puppet" race to be used in the cycle of genocide in 50,000 years. Or if you're human, be melted down into some sort of organic metal to make ANOTHER giant, "ancient" machine that enslaves and destroys the next generation of life in 50,000 years. Also, there's the possibility of having all of your organs forcibly removed and replaced with machinery to become a more "efficient" slave to serve their purpose and maybe even get to be "sewn" together with half a dozen other poor saps into some sort of walking sack with a big ass rifle sticking out of you.
Now imagine that you wouldn't be aware of this fate until the Reapers are literally breathing down your neck because some belligerent asshole leaders were too stupid and stubborn to believe the one (wo)man that has the mental capacity to save the universe and even after ALREADY BEING ATTACKED AND NEARLY KILLED BY SAID REAPER! If the damned Council weren't so thick in the head and would tell the general populace the truth, I would shoot myself rather than be subjected to the torture of the Reapers. And I don't care if I knew they wouldn't be invading for another 20 years, I wouldn't want there to be an intact corpse to play around with either!

And Silent Hill is a bit ...specific, since their world is like ours but with a spooky town. Who would go there willingly? I'd just stop travelling (not that I'm in danger seeing as I live in Europe)
While it's not the worst by a long shot, the Yu-Gi-Oh universe (especially uncencored)is pretty damn scary. Especially if you're not into card games. Becasue you know what? Out of the blue you are challenged to a duel, and if you lose you're lucky if you get to keep your soul. Oh yeah, and the oponent always cheats.

The world of Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, you could be murdered by the same person you once called a friend the day before. Or you could be the killer yourself, all thanks to Oyashiro's curse. Which can also make you insane and parnoid, you might even claw your own throat out.
