I used bows on like my 4th character just to make it hard. It was actually really fun. If you could get up really high you were set as no one could hit you.ultrachicken said:Bows in Oblivion. I have no idea why anybody would use them.
Also, the grenade launcher from mw2. I get no satisfaction out of a kill with that thing.
I don't think it's all that easy to use the Spartan Laser, except on a vehicle, something stationary, or at long range. Rockets require no targeting whereas Spartan Lasers make you be just right at the correct moment. Granted, I have only played Lasers with my friends, but I have a lot of fun dodging the attacks as I rush in. Vice versa, it's pretty exciting when you do manage a laser hit, just because it's so uncommon.OpiateChicken said:My example of this is Halo 3's Spartan Laser. I never use it--not because I suck with it, but because it's the new "n00b t00b". You don't really need any skill to use it and it blows up anything with one hit. Its role was, I think, already perfectly filled by the rockets that homed in on vehicles in Halo 2. The degradation of the Halo 3 rockets and the inclusion of the Laser just seems like a redundant move and a lame Bungie attempt to make a boring weapon seem fun. At least it's fun when you get killed by rockets because things go flying everywhere. With the laser you just drop dead/blow up.
I don't think the enemy would, either.Demented Teddy said:I would not have the patience for it ^^'
For KoTOR 1... yes. In KoTOR 2 its a different story.Bob_Bobbington said:I always use them. Is there something wrong with me?ultrachicken said:Bows in Oblivion. I have no idea why anybody would use them.
OT: Blasters in KoTOR. Useless for you and pretty much half your party.
I use bows all the time. Using them with powerful poisons is fun, though I swap to magic or a melee weapon if enemies get too close. A good poison + an enchanted arrow and a decent bow can hurt...Bek359 said:Well, I use bows to deliver poisons long-range, or to kill something without being detected. It's harder to do that with magic.ultrachicken said:Bows in Oblivion. I have no idea why anybody would use them.

The problem most people would have in this regard is simply that the draw range (especially on the 360) wasn't long enough to actually get any use out of the scope. Couple that with the very rapid drop off of VATS targeting and the problem becomes even more clear. Finally, the simple fact that the actual sniper rifle was a very rare drop, and the fact that paying a merchant to repair required incurring crippling expenses (not to mention the very fast wear rate) and you had a weapon that was always just about broken that you couldn't use at long range anyhow. This often meant that the hunting rifle was simply a better weapon - more ammunition, more shots in a VATS session, fantastically common for repair purposes and very regularly had a damage per shot quite close to the (potentially) more powerful sniper or regulator rifles.Aylaine said:Half the base weapons in Fallout 3 weren't very good. A few were, but the rest were questionable. ESPECIALLY SNIPER RIFLES.
