Remember Me, you could have been a lot better than you were, but you were still good for me. Trying to do brawler combat with puzzles, 'platforming', story bits and the memory mixing thing was a bit too much but it really just needed some more polish. Underrated now but I am starting to get the feeling that in a few years it will become some kind of cult game. It's a shame we let one of the best female characters of 2013's AAA market go to waste like that, too.

Rayman Legends can I say that? The game did pretty well with critics and fans but...not a lot of people are buying this game which is just overwhelmingly tragic.

If that doesn't count then.....*shrugs* I got nothin.
Hopefully next year Rayman Legends will pick up like it's Dad did. Origins is considered an Xbox 360 Classic now (even though it only sold about 45,000 copies in 2011).

Remember Me. It definitely lacked polish, but I loved it nonetheless. I enjoyed the combat, loved the memory-mixing, the story was good, and the music was great. Highly encourage people to try it out.

That title BELONGS to the Rayman Legends. It is a title that frankly has no right to exist in this ecosystem just by the virtue of being a 2D game with beatiful hand-drawn graphics with top notch animation coupled with fun platforming extraveganza.

I can't force people into buying it but you can be sure that I will always hold a little grudge the crowd who didn't even give it a chance.

Unholy Heights is a really fun little management game. You play as Satan and you have to manage an apartment building for different kinds of monsters who all have their own abilities and preferences. You have to keep your tenants happy and defend the building against adventurers who come to loot it every once in a while.

It's a fairly simple casual game, but it does have some depth in how you organise your defences and how to get better and more powerful monsters to move in. I had a lot of fun with it and actually played all the way through it multiple times. And it's only $4 normally, $2 now that it's on sale.

Also, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is my favourite FPS of the year and not that many people seem to have played it.

Wii Party is surprisingly fun for a random party game my sister got with the Wii, over 80 different minigames with a whole host of different modes and entertaining Miis. It's very easy to pick up and play and there's enough luck involved that there's a good chance the best player won't win... vital when playing competitive multiplayer against people less experienced with either the game or gaming in general.

Mine would be Pikmin 3. It is an amazing game, and it got good ratings, but I feel like it got unfairly panned for being too similar to the first two games. If it wasn't like the first two games it would not be Pikmin anymore! I know it sold well enough, but it wasn't enough to boost Wii U sales.

As of right now it is one of my favorite games of the year, I had so much fun with it that it's a bit of a shame it did not wow many other people.

Well there's a few games I suppose.

Ni No Kuni. It was a pretty solid RPG experience, beautiful soundtrack, a fun story and cast of characters, nice battle system ect. Really the only thing bad I could say about it is that the last 15% of the game wasn't needed at all IMO.

Rayman Legends as other people have said. This game is just platforming bliss. Great levels, lots of different characters and skins to play with, extra challenges, and the music levels. Oh god. The music levels. Those are pure genius.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. This game really made me feel like a hunter. I can read about my hunts through notes you can buy for the store, use what information they give me by crafting certain tools like sonic bombs or explosive barrels, equip different sets of armor and weapons depending on what kind of monster I'm facing, and I also have to search through the areas I'm set in in order to find the monster in question. There's just a ton of depth here and that's not even covering the fights themselves.

From what I've read, the MH series has had some trouble making it's mark here in the west. And that's kind of a shame, because this game is REALLY GOOD. I've only just beaten the main story and now I'm doing the extra quests and the multiplayer. This game is more than likely going to be my GOTY unless Fire Emblem Awakening does something that blows me away.

The Wolf Among Us.

I personally think it is better than The Walking Dead. The theme, the combat, everything was awesome. Episode one left me craving more when the walking dead took about four episodes to make me want more.

Probably Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Its a pretty short game (Around 4 hours at most if you take your time), but it was actually pretty good. The controls take some getting used to, but I can't recall any game where I play as two characters at the same time with just one controller. Makes the game feel unique a bit you know? Add to that the music, and the surprisingly DARK story elements that you encounter, and you got a game that I think should have got recognized more. The story takes you all over, and evokes emotions from you that you probably wouldn't expect from a game with so short of a playtime. Its even more impressive when you consider no one really "talks" in the game. They all make noises and understand each other, but you as the player have no idea what they are saying.

Trying to think if there is any more for 2013, but I played mostly big named titles besides Brothers and Ducktales: Remastered (Great nostalgia factor for Ducktales though. So good.).

Since people on this site seem to have been intentionally ignoring it, I'm tempted to say GTA V...
But actually, Zombie Killer Squad the phone game by Syndicate and some other youtuber is pretty fun, also it's by a youtuber who hasn't been complaining non-stop about youtube policies (He hasn't mentioned it I don't think) so instant thumbs up from me.

I hear ya, i'd go as far as saying it was like in my top 5 best single player experiences within last few years.

Contrast/Remember Me:
Both games have FANTASTIC ideas, but they're just too dang short which leads to some great ideas only being used once.

Game play, story, music, and characters.
All things gamers ***** about wanting, they're there.

It's just annoying how they give you that taste, leaving you wanting for more, and you know it's less likely that they'll get sequels than Sheumue 2.

Ahhhhh....ummm...Splinter Cell Blacklist?

Didn't do amazing with the fans and critics were generally warm with it, but I loved it a lot. The SvM wasn't anything like the old (and better) ones, but goddamnit, after the mess that was Conviction, Blacklist did an amazing job fixing the Splinter Cell series. I loved it, and I reckon people should give it a chance.

But hey, I'm someone who liked Double Agent, what do I know?
You know a great deal. I thought the Perfectionist difficulty was a brilliant addition to the series. Let them have their accessible crap from Conviction while giving the die hard fans the difficulty they desire.

This is mostly because not many people have heard of it, but that seems standard for a lot of flash games. It wasn't that great of a game mechanically, but it still managed to be engaging enough to make me play through it in one approximately 1.5-2 hour sitting, and I don't regret doing it. To me, it deserved more attention than it got, and it is probably the only game this year that I would say that about.
That game melted my brain. Passcode turkeys... *collapse*

But yeah, I agree. The game didn't get as much attention as it should have.

And I suppose Pokemon fans still haven't quite realised that their beloved franchise is heavily inferior (flameshield) to the game series that started the whole genre, so SMT:IV went mostly ignored by the general gaming community.
Hey, I've enjoyed pokemon before, and would like to see what it's heavily inferior to. So what does SMT stand for? (though, at a guess I'm going to say super monster trainer.)

Eador: Masters of the Broken World. As much as it was released buggy, it has also been patched significantly and runs quite well now; with the turn by turn autosave the bugs also don't fuck things up as badly as they could too. Putting that quibble aside it's the best TBS or TBT I've seen in years (Eador is a TBS, but the TBT battles are really well done).

This.
I even dare to say that it's better than any of the recent Mario platformers... and not regret repeating that statement with the straightest of faces... (Don't test me, son!)

OT: Yeah... Rayman Legends... A game that not only lives up to his father Origins, but then has the balls for it to make me want to buy it twice... (and I did... and one of those copies is for the Wii U I don't even have... yet...)

No matter what, it will always be my GOTY of 2013... BELIEVE IT!!!

Deadpool is one of the games that I can say that they were highly underrated. It seems to me to be a game that only I seemed to have enjoyed the crass humor of it all.

Another one that springs to mind and no one seems to mention in their list(s) is Metro Last Light which was one of the best FPS I have played throughout the whole year.
