Name either a gameplay mechanic or story element from a game that was so unrealistic that it ruined that part of the game.

EDIT: by unrealistic i mean stuff that just doesn't make any sense at all and causes you to think "well that was really stupid".

MW2 the airport mission (Somebody had to say it.) The fact that you couldn't just stop the whole event from happening because you had to "Keep your cover" is just absurd.

Unrealistic can go either way.

However, I would say...Something.

I'm tired, don't judge me.

Any and all games that feature functional magic or some variation thereof.

Too easy?

Well, unrealistic doesn't make a game bad; it depends on context and what's going on. Something occurring in one game won't make the gamer bat an eye (or they may even like it), while the same thing happening in another game could have them yelling "That is the dumbest thing I have ever seen!". Either that or if it really is just dumb, like the previousely mentioned MW2 example.

The consequences that originated from that mission were also rather... ludicrous.

I will forever hate the hidius creature that is health regen. Halo started it and from their one we constantly end up haveing to wait for our health to regain, I beleive that a healthbar system can make a game enjoyabl especialy games with stealth and other elements that are ment to have previous actions effect your current situation. Health regeneration is a horribal trend and is screwing some of the best games. (Rumer is Deus ex3 is going to have health regen)

If I remember correctly, there was a bit in halo 2 where that master chief guy jumps out from a spaceship clutching into some spiky object and doesn't get vaporized by the time he lands

...

I laughed then cried

Metal Gear Solid 2: Fortune, when it actually turned out she was 'Lady Luck' i nearly threw the controller at the screen it was so out of place in a game that usually so neatly explained phenomena like that - even if the technology is years and years off, it was still AN explanation.

Edit: Metal Gear Solid as well.

The genome soldiers that cannot see 15 feet in front of their current location made them much less of a threat.

Actually it started with Wolverine Adamantium Rage for SNES and Megadrive. And please, oh please, clean up your grammar and spelling.

OT: Enemies that can see you a whole map away under Fog of War condtions while you are trying to not get ambushed.

I know it would have made the game far too easy but the fact that you couldn't kill enemes instantly when shooting them in the head just seemed beyond absurd to me.

EDIT - I was referring to Fallout 3, forgot to include that.

MW2, because jumping with a anti-material rifle that weighs at least 40 LBS is legit shit.

Halo: Combat evolved.
I love the game but I gotta admit it is highly unrealistic because after all in that game you actually SURVIVE encounters with the elites, like that would ever happen in real life in which they would obviously smite your inferior frail human form to oblivion.

*ahem*

I suppose I shouldn't really mention Science Fiction or fantasy games on the basis that all the things that happen in those kind of game worlds probably make perfect sense as they adheir to their own set of logic. So naturally, I should point out a game set in the real world that is still unrealistic
In which case I gotta say Saint's Row 2. It does a lot to be light hearted and unrealistic in almost every way and therefore never stops being fun.
