Most violent movies you've watched

The first ones that came to mind were the lion king, dog soldiers (especially the scene where the dog rips out the intestines of the guy) and pulp fiction, for the just general violence in it and brutal rape scene

Actually there's a number of Korean movie movies like this that are just fantastic (and hard to watch)

Agreed on that one. Not a whole lot of gore, but still nasty violence. Then again, that movie as a whole was pretty freaky.

One of those films where when it finishes everyone in the room just sits completely speechless and watch the credits role.

It's pretty brutal from start to finish, but ends with someone being locked up and beaten regularly until she completely lets go of all feeling and emotions, then they peel her skin off. This is all to try to gain some insight into life after death.

In terms of sheer body count it'd easily be Hard Boiled. It has a body count of well over 300, 100 of which happen in the final scene. Gorewise? Saw 3 (I think that's the right one) mainly because of the brain surgery that happens close up.

I watched the third Berserk movie, Descent, recently. It was definitely the best of the three, and I actually liked it and would recommend watching it too. It was also one of the most insanely violent movies I've ever seen. It was no surprise, considering the part of the manga the movie covers, and I'd read it so many times already it didn't have such a strong impact on me. But I still went "Woah dude, that's some gross stuff" at times. The only movie I can remember seeing and being more violent is Hobo with a Shotgun. Braindead comes close, but considering it's effectively a comedy, its impact was somewhat lessened.

Did they leave in Wyald and the Demon Dogs? I only watched this movie up till the point I noticed they took out Guts' rape flashback, and said "Fuck this, I'm done."

Unfortunately they left Wyald out and also Rickert being saved by the Skull Knight as well, which to me doesn't make any sense, it just reduces the suspense of the Hawks rescuing Griffith, well at least they included the Skull Knight.

OT: Texas Chainsaw Massacre, well it's not as gory as horror films today, I thought I should mention it since considering it was released in the 70s, it was considered very violent back then and also because it scared the shit out of me when I saw it as a child

Also Cannibal Holocaust for being really messed up as it includes real animals being killed on camera and a fair amount of gory scenes, so much so that the director was arrested due to the belief that it was a snuff film

Tokyo gore police was a pretty violent and crazy film with all kinds of weird mutants.
I would probably say Battle Royale is a very violent film too, whilst not all that gory the violence some of those kids inflict on each other is impressive.

This is the problem I have with these new movies, apart from the horrendous CGI... They leave out all those character building and atmosphere establishing moments. Taking Guts' traumatic flashback out of the sex scene completely reduces that moment to just a sex scene, instead of the incredibly revealing moment that shows how deeply scarred Guts is and which forges an indestructible bond between him and Casca.

The new movies just come across as bullet point presentations instead of real stories.

quite a few. Hot Fuzz comes to mind though. a guy's jaw gets impaled on a church roof replica. another guy's head explodes after a very real piece of church roof falls on him.

I know it's a comedy but the violence was so over-the-top it was almost disturbing.

When it comes to domestic movies, I think Punisher: War Zone is the most violent. Machete was also pretty violent but I think Punisher: War Zone is the more violent film (it's also my favorite comic-book movie). When it comes to all movies I've seen, including imports, Ichi the Killer is by far the most violent film I've ever seen. Some out-of context scene descriptions:

hung suspended using multiple hooks...then doused in boiling tempura oil.

face cleanly slashed off
domestic abuse
Yakuza retribution scene...it's not on youtube but do a video search using the words "Kakihara" and "Tongue". NOT. SAFE. FOR. WORK.

Hmm in terms of sheer gore the flick where that porn actress plays the ninja chick is pretty darn bloody. Forgot the name. Definitely a B movie and somewhat comedic I guess.

In terms of impact Audition by Takashi Miike had me cringe, squirm and bite a pillow battling the urge to fast forward. He basically invests 90min to set up characters and relationships before anything happens.

Grew up on Troma films.

Gorey 80s seinen anime, like Mad Bull 34, Dawn of the Twilight Master, Baoh, Legend of the Overfiend, Biohunter, MD Geist, Violence Jack, Angel Cop, Ninja Scroll, Crying Freeman, Demon City Shinjuku, Psychodiver, Kite, Wicked City, Vampire Hunter D, Akira, Devilman, Guyver, Iria: Zeiram the Animation, 3X3 Eyes, Blood Reign: Curse of the Undead Youma, ....

Seen all the zombie movies there are.

Bludgeonng Angel Dokuro-chan is a ultraviolent comedy. Too bad season 2 took everything good & threw it out the window...Basically turned it into Puni Puni Poemi, & that's not forgivable.
