After a particular long session of playing Assassins Creed I had to walk to the store to buy some stuff. On the way there, I eyed up a wall I could run up to get ontop of the buildings, as it would be quicker than walking and dodgeing the guards. Then I relaised I wasn't playing the game any more.

Seriously, if you did walk over to the car to 'Jack' what were you going to do? Your normal brain would come back and call you a retard. Same with murdering or any other game element. "Ohh, I'll stab that guy for extra points."

exactly , my normal brain; s;eep deprived as it was, reminded me that this is real life, and hot wiring a car is harder than hitting hte enter button. oh and all the reprecusions etc.
i guess the point is, SOME people dont have that part of the brain that makes reality checks work right. maybe there needs to be a video game invented that can test em, :p

Yeah, but my point was... What the frik were you going to do once you got to the car?! Do you know how to hotwire a car? Do you have the appropriate equipment? You're also half asleep. Do you really think you could hotwire a car not in your consious mind?!

Now we move onto killing people. I'll just copy and paste my above agrument and show the comparison:

Do you know how to kill a person? I'm sure you have a knife or gun avaliable with you, as most people do when they leave their house? You're also half asleep. Do you really think you could kill a person not in your consious mind?! Tah da! Done. I know what you're trying to say. But in no way does that have to do with a person litterly taking another persons life. There always has to be a cause: over money, another person, looked at him funny, not because he was up late at night playing Manhunt and went down to the store and 'accidently' killed a guy on the way.

See, it's like this: the games didn't CAUSE the killings, they were misused as training utensils. The media likes to blame games, but one can't simply go, "Aye, I'm gonna see if I can kill that man like they do it in Manhunt!". You have to have a MOTIVE. More like, "that man has humiliated me all my life. I'll go kill him, and I used Manhunt as a training tool to help me learn." You see? Games are the tools in cases like this.
