Ok this is been bothering me now, am I the only one that is tired of all of this motion control crap. I mean think about it gaming started on a controller (or joystick same thing) and 30 years later it's still using a controller. I feel that after everyone gets over the Wii and Natal and Six-axis they might realize what they are is just cheap gimmicks to sell games (with exceptions of the ones that do it right.)

Sure I do have a Wii but they just never can nail the control in most games and it makes me want a controller in which they do sometimes provide I can use one.

I mean sure when motion control is perfected I might be able to get into it but until then I would you rather a controller over motion control any day (once again with some exceptions.)

I just feel that everyone is focusing way to much on these toys and should realize it isn't how games are meant to be played. I just don't want developers to stop making games for us gamers who still would like a controller when they play games.

But sure some games actually can do the motion control right but there are still problems of just body fatigue of playing to long and injury from swinging around body parts which will always hold these back from controllers.

Sony and Microsoft are just jealous of the Wii's popularity so they rip off the key part of the console.

If they don't make games with motion controlls how are they gonna learn and perfect it?

You said it yourself that it works great in some games.

I honestly think it's nice that they're focusing on improving the way we play games, seeing how far they've come with graphics, i can only imagine how far tehy'll get with motion controlls

Can't say much about consoles, I only have a DS... But motion control just puts too many constraints... Or rather, only very specific games can be motion-controlled. Even with added voice commands (like in Natal, it seems), you still can't beat the venerable keyboard + mouse combination the PC has.

And I agree, this will probably be just a passing fad. We've seen that with VR, haven't we? Not that VR was ever as widely available as Wiis, but still...

A multiple-touch screen, however - that would be neat for strategy gaming... Hmmm...

I think "some" is the keyword here. We've seen Natal presentation, we've seen Wii exclusives, we've seen DS exclusives. In order to fully take advantage of an unusual control system - and not feel awkward - the game has to be tailored to it. And as much as you can experiment with the controls, this puts limits on the range of games you can make - so they'd quickly appear repetitive.

Two demonstrations have stood out for me, keeping me from hopping aboard the "gimmick" bandwagon.

The PS3 Wand RTS demo showing that it could be possible to drag and drop on a console and the Wii Hacker 3D lean demo.

If MS & Sony can get some good titles rolling out with this sort of control innovation then I'll be 100% sold.

Yes I know they will probably perfect it....eventually but that's what scares me I don't want to always using motion controls I would like to keep use controllers.

The point is I don't care if they keep making these games but thats all the gaming industry is focusing on now is who can make the best motion controls and they are forgetting how to make regular games I mean they should face it not all games need motion control.

well take a look at the wii, most of the good games on it doens't over-use it. they use it where it's appropriate. so you won't get sweatty from playing zelda, metroid or other of the good games.

Ah, Microsoft and Sony are just ripping off Nintendo. After their initial popularity if the companies don't actually support the motion controls with decent products then both will fail and go away anyways. If they pull gimmicky junk the core audiences of the PS3 and X-box will hate it. The Wii already has captured up most of the casual audience that likes these games so no new audience is going to come in. The new motion controls will need to work well or will fail because the Wii beat them to the punch.

Motion control can work, but I believe that it still needs a lot of work and having been frustrated more then once by the Wii I also feel that controllers should at least be an option in addition to motion control.

Again, in most of the good games this isn't a problem.

If you're afraid of your wrists hurting after playing any of them, then i don't wanna know how scared you are of guitar hero and masturbation.

Epic.

Reminds me of a story my friend told me. In the kitchen there was this guy that said that his wrists were tired from stirring the damn pot, and suddenly the "normally" quite chef said out loud,

"I thought you'd be good at it since you're such a big fucking wanker!"

Needless to say, everyone was shocked that it was from him.
lol even more epic.
But i guess playing wii, guitarhero/guitar and wanking could end up giving you sore wrists, though I rarely have that problem

There is no amount of motion control perfection that could make me like it more than a controller. I will continue to use controllers until they invent the console that you control with an implant in your brain.

I bought a Wii, I tried Mario Galaxy. 20 minutes later I decided motion controls weren't for me and went back to playing Smash Bros with a gamecube controller.
