Your hands are sweating as you turn left, teeth bared and eyes strained by the speed which makes everything around you go by in a blur, the only clear thing in your sight being the large tunnel which marks the end of your last lap. You can hear another vehicle - probably an ATV - go hurtling into a tree to your left, but you don't turn to see. You need to stay focused. Your car starts to shake with pressure; you can tell you're about to overheat, and you grin.

Boom. You car goes flying forward, fire now engulfing your vehicle, and the momentum gained is enough to send the remains of your car hurtling past the motorbike that was about to steal your rightful place as the winner of Rain God Spire.

And in a blaze of glory, you cross the finish line.

The original Motorstorm came out in 2007 with mixed critical reviews, but I - and many, many others that I know - loved the hell out of it. The vehicles were balanced, the physics was great, the graphics were fantastic and the track design was nothing short of genius, with several branching pathes to each map ensuring that, for a while at least, the game stayed fresh.

But a lack of content held it back. Being a launch game, people were willing to cut it some slack... but no split-screen and only eight (aleit extremely well designed) tracks seemed to take the mickey a bit, creating little longevity and leaving you with a fantastic game with less features than an MP3 player from 2002.

But everything above seems to have been fixed a year and a half later in the sequel. The tracks are varied and still gorgeous, with another sixteen (plus the DLC from the last game, apparantly) fleshing the experience out considerably; the online is actually good now, with far less lag and a Quick Join option; the new elements of fire and water mean that there's even more strategy than in the first iteration; and there are Monster Fucking Trucks.

I'm getting this as soon as it comes out in the UK, but I'd like to hear you people's thoughts on the game. Love it? Hate it? <url=http://www.gametrailers.com/player/41872.html>Don't know anything about it yet? Either way, shoot.

I don't like racing games (except for Burnout).
So I won't be getting it.

I got the first one with my PS3 and it was so bad it made me consider returning to the shop to get my 300 quid back. Someone told me it was like Burnout with bikes and trucks! Oh, please.
