Mount and blade style games

I just played the demo for Mount and blade, and really enjoyed the type of game it was. Run around, do what I want with lots of things happening all around me. I've always enjoyed this type of game, but haven't really seen many like it.

Does anyone know something similar to mount and blade, but with more...polish? Or just more to do. Or anything. Mount and blade was good, but there was just something missing that stopped me getting hooked. Like every villager saying the same thing. Or something. I don't know.

But any suggestions?

The expansions to M+B just add more to the original game. Try out the demo for Warband if you haven't, or buy With Fire and Sword, it's cheap.
