So, I was re-upping my drink supply the other day, and at the store I see Mt. Dew Throwback. It looks identical to the normal Mt. Dew. After looking further, evidently it is made with REAL sugar like back in the good ol' days. I have noticed an alarming trend to the increasing use of corn syrup as a sugar substitute, and I was interested to see them make the product with sugar again. So, I get it home, throw it in the fridge and wait, after its nice and cold I drink one, and meh... it was just okay. And in fact, it kind of tasted like Diet Mt. Dew or perhaps a Sprite off branch. I guess the corn syrup really does make it taste much more sweeter. When I took the first sip in anticipation I kind of grimaced and let out an "ahh man" after it, lol. However, after drinking it, I didn't feel as uber glucified like normal Mt.Dew can do, which was a nice change I suppose.

At any rate, I am curious how many others of you have tried this product and what you thought about it. Also, do you also wish that they would use real sugar in products again instead of corn syrup? There are some interesting statistics that show that the increase of diabetes has onset shortly after the increase use of corn syrup. But anyways, what do you guys think?

I'm unconcerned. As a type I diabetic, the regular sodas don't bug me. And the focus on kids who get type II diabetes because of their diets really irritates me.
Oh right...the topic...as for the product itself, I don't think it tasted much like Diet Mountain dew...diet has a bit more...bite to it. Overall, as long as it has tons of caffeine, I'll still drink whatever they have out. I need my fix, and they're cheaper than Starbucks.

Hmm i havent touched mountain dew since highschool. Then again im still waiting for them to bring crystal pepsi back.
Ahh, well if you had it back then, try one of the normal ones today and see if it seems a little sweeter than you use to remember. And oh God I LOVED crystal Pepsi! WTF they got rid of it I do not know! I mean, it likely had cost less to manufacture without the add of the dyes. And I don't know it just tasted better it seems like, haha. And I think you can still find some on Ebay from time to time, although I can't imagine that they would be very carbonated by now, lol. But meh, toss some dry ice chips in your glass and you should be fine heh.

I thought it tasted a lot better. Normal Dew is way too acidic for me, but I could easily chug a bottle of Throwback. And I feel the same about that glucosy feeling you get, Throwback doesn't give me that.

I prefer normal Mountain Dew. The throwback didn't taste right. Like you said, it tasted like diet.

The taste is more interesting and citrusy instead of that metallic taste you get in Mountain Dew that tastes like someone took a piss in your drink after a solid kick to the kidneys.

I love Mountain Dew. It's awesome. I don't care if it kills my sperm. That's how wonderfully delicious it is
Jebus I hope it doesn't kill your sperm, lol. Although I am starting to think that soda needs to be more closely regulated to a degree. It seems people are getting kidney stones alot more these days hehe. Not to mention some people claim it pulls minerals from your bones and basically causes osteoporosis over several years. But ehh the stuffs too good. I can drink a gallon of water and still be "thirst" until I get some soda sometimes.

Phew, so it wasn't just me. I really was let down. But it makes me question if that is how the old MT. Dew use to taste, and some how the new formula just tastes better for what ever reason due to the corn syrup. Unless the throwback isn't really the original formula or something.

That is what drew me to it. I think that there might be something wrong with corn syrup, in the way how we thought trans-fats were a good alternative to normal fats. But meh, I know it is not a health drink, but it couldn't hurt to get to live a little bit longer so I can keep buying more of their products, lol.

I heard that it does kill your sperm from multiple people. But it ok, cause the average male has enough sperm to impregnate every single woman on the planet at least once. So I think I'm covered.

I am guessing you don't enjoy the new Mt. Dew, lol. I seem to like it from time to time, when I am not feeming for a cola. But yeah the throwback Mt. Dew tastes like citrisy like you said, kind of more sharp or crisp like Sprite. Which again I like Sprite as well, and 7-Up.

I enjoy Mountain Dew every now and again but I don't like it like I used to. I mostly jones for a Coke anymore and the occasional Pepsi Throwback.

Maybe it is and maybe it isn't. In my mind, it's just a marketing ploy. I don't really know if the throwback is the original, or vice versa. All I know is I've grown up drinking the corn syrup kind and that's what I'm used to. For me, that is the original. I haven't had the Pepsi throwback, but I've heard it's not that great either. But it's all just a marketing gimmick.

I remember hearing that about Mellow Yellow. Are you sure you're not thinking of that?

Also, dude...edit button...I know you want to reply to most people, but just having one post, and then adding to it by quote, copy, edit, paste, will make the place a little neater.
Sorry if that seems nitpicky.
