welcome to the internet, where animosity gives you an endless amount of enjoyment of trolling and loudmouthery

it's how the internet goes, if people can get away with it then they will, especially in console gaming where it's nigh impossible to remove someone from a game who refuses to behave.

That's one of the main reasons I won't use consoles, I don't like going into servers and knowing that no one can do anything about a TKer or Troll or anything of that nature, go onto a PC and most of the time there will be an admin you know

Wow what a coincidence. I was just playing css with some bigmouthed idiot on the server. Everytime when he died he called the other ones noobs or insulted everyone on the server. The worst thing was when he used his mic, he had a really annoying high-pitched voice. He was probably some stupid 10 year old boy.

Say you hate any valve game or question how good some bioware games and they'll tear your head off but since this is the escapist they'll mask there anger with more intelligent and prentenious insults since this is apparently the Civilized game forum.
Hmm...field test time! Half-Life was only a mediocre game, and Gordon Freeman is NOT Jesus with glasses and a haircut!

OT (yes, I did actually have a point for reposting): I just got called a "******-ass n00b"...in an online game of Scrabble. Good God in heaven, is nothing holy?

WELCOME TO ONLINE PLAY!

I'm actually probably one of "those guys" in LoL. When I'm playing a high level game and I see guys acting like they just started playing, I'm gonna let them have it. When I'm at lower levels, I offer to help them out, when (not if) they say, "Go fuck yourself" then I let them have it.

Fortunately, as a sniper, I have no reason to not mute everybody. I can see the mofo camping above the entrance to A, thank you.

I swear I cant find a single game of league of legends or bad company 2 without there being at least one mouthy little shit who is constantly saying owned or calling everyone noobs or something else that makes me want to reach into the internet and strangle them, is it just me or is this sort of thing becoming much more common?
Welcome to the Interwebs.

In a slightly less obnoxious tone (but only slightly, mind you), that sort of crap happens everywhere. The ability to be anonymous, to not suffer any tangible ill effects from being one o' those "mouthy little shits," and most importantly the ability to be a dickhead in front of an AUDIENCE...that's a powerful combination for even normally decent people to fight against.

Can i find a fourm where i wont get flamed or hated on for having an oppinion on somthing the other person dosent agree with? No
(Looks around the Escapist forums, tentatively raises hand.)

I...haven't been flamed yet? And I tend to say some pretty pretentious shit.
I like you! You remind me of me!

OT... play strategy games... not saying those people aren't there, because indeed there are, but it seems to be less common as you have to use at least a few brain cells to play 'em well.

Listen to Amon Amarth. You get to ignore them as well as have your skills powered up by the Viking power of metal

Really in Bad Company 2? Because I've only come across a total of 2 in my 56 hours of playing it on X Box Live. Hell even my friends say there are far less 13 year olds on BC2 than say Modern Warfare. But hey thats what the mute switch and player review is for.

Thankfully, the only online game I play with an regularity is TF2, and I have yet to see many douchbags. My own experience though.

you can mute any player in any game on XBL through the Xbox menu. Also, you can set it so you can only chat with/hear people on your friends list

I did find one guy on Lost Planet 2's multiplayer being a lil' too chopsy for his own good (colloquialism meaning shoot their mouths off) asking the basics such as how you pick up guns, why the eff do I have a pistol and so on.
I just met his disdain with simple answers and such, knowing he was the kind of character to start having a pop at me should I dare to contradict his confusion.
But I too tend to keep away from FPS games as of late as I know that'll be where they'll congregate and fester like an open wound.
Elsewhere on other games, I've other annoyances to contend with such as some users having the tv turned up too loud, the PS3's voice changer making their speech virtually unintelligible and other such mild nuisances

heres a fun idea go online to any of these comunitys and pretent to be gay/black/racist/from the south and i garuntee you will laugh your ass of in the resulting conversations with the whiney ***** that results. ( for me this is half the fun of any xbl game)
Good ol' 'For teh lulz'? I agree ... but eventually their comments became so grating as to make you dive for the mute option, or failing to do it fast enough, yanking the speaker adapter out of the socket.

If you want to save your sanity with any online FPS (In particular) just turn off mic support. Your brain will thank you for it in the long run.

Fortunately the only sort of game I play online regularly are RTS, and in general the worst you run into on those games are pretentious assholes who think they're better than everyone else, and even then they're not nearly as common as you'd fear.

Only other games I play online often are the Mechwarrior games, whether that Mechwarrior: Living Legends beta which has a small but helpful community, or the more recently re-released Mech4: Mercenaries which has a more veteran community, neither of which you get many annoying brats playing.
