Movie characters you were saddened (or downright horrified) to see die.

One that might seem obvious from Lord of the Rings,
I didn't like Boromir's death.
Then in The Bourne Supremacy
Marie's death occurs
and in possibly the only good Dutch movie TBS
main character Tessa is killed off right before the end causing the movue to mess with your head in a sick way.

MASSIVE WATCHMEN SPOILER
Rorschach at the end of Watchmen

EDIT: ok sorry to the guys that hadn't seen it though it doesn't matter whether it's put in a spoiler or not because no one leaves a spoiler unopened.

Also

when Will smith and his dog dies
we appear to have similar taste in films, i agree with both, particularly with
with dog dying

Sorry if I spoiled that for you but the movie is over 20 years old. Spoiler's expire after 5 years in my book.

Jasper, in Children of Men. I think he was called Jasper. I dunno. He was old, and grew cannabis or something.
OMFG Yes.

He just wanted to be left alone to his forest home, took in the needy and desperate, and paid for it. He took the death great though!

Him: "Pull my finger..."
*shot in the stomach*
Him: "AGH!... Heh... Pull my finger..."

thank you somebody remember Saving Private Ryan its still sad that almost the whole cast died
I always felt most hard hit by Wade's death (The Medic played by Giovanni Ribsi), it's probably one of the most realistic and sad deaths sequences on film.

I think most people would accept that, but not on blockbusters which have just released. I dont get to go to the movies, and movies such as these I will definately buy and watch - not even contemplating downloading it (oooo the shock!)

I would have to say;
Kirk in Star Trek: Generations (sad, but anticlimactic as hell) and Eli Vance in Half-Life 2: Ep. 2 (just shocking and horrifying, incredibly unexpected), also Spock in Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan (but he really didn't die, so it doesn't count)

The death in Chinatown felt like a punch in the stomach.

I'm surprised the death from Network hasn't be recreated in real life yet.
