Trainspotting!
like fight club, it is huge in book and movie form.
I think lots of book/movies get good cult followings (HP, LoTR) though some have big enough box office earnings to perhaps fall into a 'not cult' status?
This is probably due to having the book as a supplement to the movie, and a way of extending enjoyment of a franchise...
Just my opinion though.
Also I gotta say, these are pretty much all really really good films or series... amazing that they are all 'cult' movies and not more well known

I'm going to say Evil Dead, more specifically Bruce Campbell himself.

Did someone say Plan 9 yet? At least in my area, that still sells out midnight screenings.

Trainspotting has my vote-what is not to like about a bunch of unpleasant Scottish heroin addicts?

Fight Club and V for Vendetta are also up there

Rocky Horror.
Prolly number 2 would be Harold and Maude.

Plus, 95% of the movies the previous posters have suggested aren't technically "cult" movies.

Okay, Star Wars is not cult by any means. Nor is Harry Potter. Now Labyrinth and Princess Bride you have legit suggestions, same for Rocky Horror.

Though if we're going for cult status while being close to having a legitimately large following? Boondock Saints.
(Except it's not a cult movie. lulz)

It widely depends on what's considered a "cult movie" and who you judge to be part of the cult, as distinct from people who just enjoyed it at the time.

I would guess Rocky Horror is up there no matter how you slice it though.

I agree with this post, the Rocky Horror Picture Show has umpteen bazillion or so followers, and has been garnering them from every generation since it was made.

Bless you Tim Curry <3

Nobody can win this game...but I believe Fight Club.
fight club was awsome and completley different to what I expected

I expected some dark gritty serious movie aobut tough guys that bash eath other up

instead I got an off beat black comedey and it was awosme
correction you got a psychological thriller that was a black comedy and awesome.

Not the largest cult I don't think, but I think Let The Right One In has got quite a cult following on the internet atleast.

Troll 2 is a huge cult movie because of the fact that the fans are soooooo dedicated to it and it has a good fan base but its still underground.
It has grown a lot in the past few years and and the showings are always in some hole in the wall comic book shop or something.
