Ah yes I was also quite surprised by this moving actually being dnd. I mean it was not very good, but I liked it quite a lot anyway as like I said it was actually dnd.

HA! Yes, I love this one most because it has classes, and D&D mechanics talk, and to be blunt, the barbarian woman breaks a mold or two since women generally get relegated to archers, healers, rogues, and mages, or equivalents depending on setting.

I frikking love DnD!

Captcha: runny nose
Nope, stuffy.
If you love dnd and mold breaking I would highly recommend the book NPCs by Drew Hayes, it has loads of both and is very funny to boot.
Looks like an interesting premise! And not a huge price, either. Awesome! I'll add it to my shopping list!

My favorite thing in the movie from the tabletop game was when you mess up a teleportation, you take damage. I was pretty tickled to see that in the film.

Not to mention when he had to cut her arm off to teleport out. Concentration check! I also liked the mirror puzzle they had to get through.

Book of Vile Darkness was... not quite as good. It did have some evil classes show cased, like the Vermin Lord. Otherwise it was pretty meh.

Dragonlore wasn't a D&D movie but it might as well have been. It's on Netflix right now under a different name (The Shadow Cabal? Saga: Curse of the Shadow). Anyways it's a little better than Wrath of the Dragon God, the male lead can't really act all that well, the female lead is slightly better and does her own stunts. The makeup effects show some love though and there's some fun bits in it.

the fact there are 2 Dungeons & Dragons movies raises the question of how many more they made. With a low enough budget, they could crank out at least 1 a year.
There are at least three. The original, Wrath of the Dragon God, and the Book of Vile Darkness.

It's on Netflix as "Curse of the Dragon Slayer"... and yeah, it's good, campy fun. Anyone who enjoyed Wrath (like me!!) will probably not regret a sit-through too much. Libations are optional, but always help.

After watching this episode, I went and got a copy of this movie and watched it. I expected a crappy movie with a few classic D&D call outs. It's actually not horrible, though I wouldn't say it is good. The dialogue actually sounds like the kind of shit people at my D&D games would come up with while trying to fit the medieval fantasy setting. So you have lines that are a mix of overblown formal language and modern speech, which in any other film would just be bad writing, but in this it works. There are some classic monsters both present and mentioned (there may or may not be a flask of Purple Worm's stomach acid) and the dragons fit the Monster Manual art. Oh and the actress that plays the barbarian is absolutely stunning and just watching her is almost worth the time watching this movie on its own. So yeah, like Jim said, if you're a D&D player, you should check out this movie it's pretty fun.

"and the cleric dies just when he is needed most, just like in the actual game." I feel out of my chair laughing at that. Well done Mr. Sterling!

I have a challenge for you Jim. Defend Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen!
