The Sage is back and mercilessly invading your interwebz.

I've got a problem and I hope some of my fellow Escapists (you know, you all) can help me out. Those of you familiar with video editing and the sort will know especially what I'm talking about, and those of you who don't shouldn't be left in the dark with how I'll describe this.

Anyway, I've been using Pinnacle Studio for the past 2 or so years, and it's treated me good with the exception of the occasional crash and some rendering issues (especially when I started making HD videos), but I fault my old PC for that one. But now it's starting to piss me off - I'm trying to make a tutorial video for some homies about the awesomeness of the tonfas in NG2, but Studio's acting really fickle for some reason. I can't slow down the footage without the clip completely changing to a deleted segment; if I try to use one of the features to find an exact frame for trimming the clip down, the marker jumps around more than a super ball; and don't get me started on when the program decides to start arbitrarily editing 2 or more separate channels at the same time.

I'm at my wits end and am officially saying "fuck all this" to Studio. Which brings me to here: from your own experiences, what's a good movie editing program that can give me high-quality results (with time and experimentation, of course) and won't put too much of a dent in my bank account?
