Movie licensed games you enjoyed

I'll mention some of the obvious ones like Spider-Man 2, Goldeneye, Star Wars Episode 1: Racer, add the somewhat unexpected Star Wars Starfighter which I had a lot of fun with.

And one that I doubt anyone will mention: Mission Impossible on the N64. It is a game which is objectively terrible in more ways than I can count without taking my socks off and using my toes, but damn if I don't love it anyway. Lot's of cool ideas coupled with laughable implementation.

Believe it or not, X Men: Destiny. Yeah, it is pretty rubbish, but for a movie tie-in rather competent.

It's not a movie tie-in, though? It's also pretty rubbish against the standard of all games, I finished it 100% in about 10 hours.

Technically, it kind of is. And whilst it is crap, you can tell it's at least trying and I have to give it credit for that.

I have to say, I did quite enjoy the Avatar game. It wasn't amazing, but it is a good fun shooter.

The first two Harry Potter games were really enjoyable.. Then 3 sorta ruined it, it became too linear. Order of the Phoenix felt like it was trying to get the feel that the first two had, but It was inspired by the movies far too much, it just didnt feel magical.

I remember Batman Begins being strangly awesome

Wait... the last one that allowed you to free-roam through Hogwarts and fly around the castle and grounds on a hippogryph was too linear?

OT: Spider-Man 2 - Swinging through New York City just hasn't been topped yet.
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers/Return of the King - So many characters, so many combos, great integration of the story, so much re-playability.
Harry Potter 1-3 - I would forever love any developer who managed to make a lovingly re-created copy of Hogwarts/Hogsmeade and surrounding areas into a pseudo-open world adventure game.
Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace - I loved all of the various little cheats that you could input, doing things like turning into Qui-Gon while you were supposed to be Obi-Wan, or swapping away from Panaka in those stupid escort levels, or giving yourself unlimited Force power, or super-charging the Force Push.
Star Wars Episode 1: Racer - I would also forever love any developer that could recapture the magic from that podracing game in a modern system...
While I'm blinded by nostalgia here, The Lion King and Aladdin for the Sega Genesis were both very fun for my young self.
According to a friend, the Origins: Wolverine game was pretty good.

I dunno, I only played a bit of Prisoner of Azkaban at a friends house and it just never gripped me like the first two did, im probably jusdging it a little too much based on the small bit of gameplay i had but eh

I'm not trying to be difficult here, but how is it a tie in? Just because it came out around about the same time as First Class doesn't mean the two are in any way linked.

But to your point, I agree. I felt like it had a good idea but they either ran out of budget or perhaps rushed the release to coincide with First Class which meant it was incredibly buggy and very shallow.

Judge Dredd. It was a decent platformer along the vein of Blackthorne and Out Of This World.

I liked spider man 3
sure the movie was crap, but the game was like "here, we know you are never going to do any of the missions, here is all of the city at the start of the game"
and then when I actually did the missions, I found them really neat since the combat was pretty good.
the camera was a fickle beast when you are near walls though, which made indoor sections even MORE annoying

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. I am utterly shocked only one person has mentioned this before me. After HL2, it was my favourite game of 2004. What a fantastic game and a completely pleasant surprise for a game I didn't expect much from.

Other licensed games that I haven't played that look really good would be Goof Troop on the SNES, Marvel Super Heroes - War of the Gems on the SNES and the Fist of the North Star arcade fighter they have in Japan on the PS2. Disney and Capcom kicked the Nintendo's ass back in the day...luckily it looks like Marvel is having a good influence on them in this day and age.

I don't generally enjoy movie license games but there are a few off the top of my head

any of the Lord Of The Rings games (hell I even liked Fellowship...not as much though)

Star Wars Episode III, it was a pretty good action game I thought, and the multiplayer duel mode was a lot of fun.

Spider-Man 2: awesome for what it was

Goldeneye: (on the N64) I shouldn't have to explain this one

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: (does this count?) the 1st one was pretty good I thought

Almost no-one remembers/didn't play it, but the PS1 Disney's Hercules game was pretty dicent.
Yeah it was short and had the issue of ramping up the difficulty towards the end to extend play time, as many other early movie games did.
It also included hidden collectables and secret areas on the different stages, so it felt like a lot more effort went into it that it required.
But the best part of it looking back is the title; "Disney's action game staring Hercules"!
He he, no really that's what they released it as! If you look after it on PSN store, you must go to D in the PS1 classics archive and it's listed under that title.

Oh, and I agree that the first two Harry Potter games was good. The second was better, but only after that really bad opening level. The "A bugs life" game wasn't that bad either.

Spiderman 2, Xman Origins: Wolverine was hella fun, Mortal Kombat(? but not really movie lisenced), I even remember having fond memories of the Eragon game, even though it was even more off from the book than the movie (which was unforgivable!).
