I'm working on a list of movies which I haven't seen, mainly due to being born too late to see them. Others I simply missed and regret having done so. I already have quite a bit of work done on it, and am in the finishing stages. I want some final opinions, and where can I get more varied opinions than the internet?

If you take the time to read the List, thanks, and let me know if there's any movies on there that are particularly poor. Please note that I included Plan 9 from Outer Space and Dragon Ball Evolution because of how bad they are.

If you don't take the time to read the List, I don't blame you, just make some suggestions if you please (perhaps simply give the title of your favorite movie).

I scanned through it and nothing particularly horrible jumped out at me. Except maybe Ferris whatshisnames Day Off. I didn't like it at all. But that's really just opinion.

Also, how haven't you seen some of those movies?! There's must see classics in there! Airplane? Naked Gun? The Fellowship of the Ring? Saving Private Ryan?
Why are you posting here? Go watch them! :D

Edit: There's a disappointing lack of foreign movies there. I suggest Du Er Ikke Alene, Ils, REC, Novecento (1900), Del Toro's movies and (I know this isn't exactly foreign, but it's amazing) Mysterious Skin. =]

The only one I really dislike up there is 2001. I found it really boring.

Good job having The Sting up there, though. Great movie.

I tried watching it (2001) the other day and I have to say it's one of the slowest films I've ever seen... Can anyone actually explain why the 15 minutes of monkeys is necessary? Becuase 2 or 3 minutes at best would have done it... It is a great film though, for it's time...

Did you finish 2001? The film is about evolution and, well I'll spoiler this part

This is Stanley Kubrick's explanation

GELMIS: The final scenes of the film seemed more metaphorical than realistic. Will you discuss them -- or would that be part of the "road map" you're trying to avoid?

KUBRICK: No, I don't mind discussing it, on the lowest level, that is, straightforward explanation of the plot. You begin with an artifact left on earth four million years ago by extraterrestrial explorers who observed the behavior of the man-apes of the time and decided to influence their evolutionary progression. Then you have a second artifact buried deep on the lunar surface and programmed to signal word of man's first baby steps into the universe -- a kind of cosmic burglar alarm. And finally there's a third artifact placed in orbit around Jupiter and waiting for the time when man has reached the outer rim of his own solar system.

When the surviving astronaut, Bowman, ultimately reaches Jupiter, this artifact sweeps him into a force field or star gate that hurls him on a journey through inner and outer space and finally transports him to another part of the galaxy, where he's placed in a human zoo approximating a hospital terrestrial environment drawn out of his own dreams and imagination. In a timeless state, his life passes from middle age to senescence to death. He is reborn, an enhanced being, a star child, an angel, a superman, if you like, and returns to earth prepared for the next leap forward of man's evolutionary destiny.

That is what happens on the film's simplest level. Since an encounter with an advanced interstellar intelligence would be incomprehensible within our present earthbound frames of reference, reactions to it will have elements of philosophy and metaphysics that have nothing to do with the bare plot outline itself.

GELMIS: What are those areas of meaning?

KUBRICK: They are the areas I prefer not to discuss because they are highly subjective and will differ from viewer to viewer. In this sense, the film becomes anything the viewer sees in it. If the film stirs the emotions and penetrates the subconscious of the viewer, if it stimulates, however inchoately, his mythological and religious yearnings and impulses, then it has succeeded. (Gelmis, The Film Director as Superstar, 1970, p. 304.)
Although the beginning part did go on a bit long, I feel it was a necessary setup for the film.

Anyway back to the topic, you should definitely check out Dr. Strangelove, A Clockwork Orange, Pulp Fiction, The Godfather pt 1&2, Shaun of the Dead, Inglouroius Basterds just came out today.

Also have you seen Shawshank Redemption? That is a really good movie. Also Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is alot of fun.
Other films you should add.
Taxi Driver
Goodfellas
Unbreakable
Snatch
Kill Bill series
Reservoir Dogs
The Doors (if you are a Doors fan)
Pan's Labyrinth
Crash
Also Thank You For Smoking is hilarious, check it out if you are a fan of dark humor.

Some on your list I would recommend avoiding

The Men Who Stare at Goats - It is fucking retarded, such a waste of a great cast.
Valkyrie - Just not a very good movie. Considering how many excellent films you have on your list watching it would be a waste of time.
X-men movies
Angels and Demons

V for Vendetta, you MUST see it.

And The Producres, The African Queen, Mary Poppins (seriously, it changed my life) and wow I can't think of any others, which is weird because I've seen a LOT of old movies, and new ones.

Personally, I would do the list in chronological order.

You might think of adding The Maltese Falcon, and The Thin Man (the whole series, if you enjoy the first one) to your Pre-70s list.

Otherwise, there are so many on your list, it becomes a question of deciding which ones are better uses of your time.

For example:
Monty Python's The Meaning of Life is rubbish, compared to Holy Grail and Life of Brian. You could skip it without missing anything important.
Killer Klowns? Ehh... I wouldn't bother.
I, Robot wasn't bad, but it certainly can't contend with a lot of those titles.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit could go.
Daredevil could go.
The Core... was just plain bad.

Anyway, I wish I had time to talk cinema with you, but I have an exam in the morning... on cinema.

...hmm

My internet is too slow to see your list but if it's not on there, I recommend The Princess Bride, not to be confused with the princess diary movies. It is one of the best movies I've seen

I make that about 215 films already.

Don't add any more unless you're have no job and no need for a job.

Unforgiven is an awesome movie, one of Eastwood's best. Do yourself a favor and rent/buy/watch it.

That matches my list of not-seen films, a healthy warning: before you watch Monty Python's Meaning of Life... don't eat anything. And you missed out Silence of the Lambs... unless you have seen it of course.

Which Maltese Falcon? 1931 or 1941?
Well, the 1941 one is definitely the more well-known (Humphrey Bogart and such) and I favour it over the 1931 version. Still, they're both good.
