Movies all females must watch before they die (and come back to life as super scary zombies)

None. If I wanted to watch stupid bitches freak over men or complain about mundane things everyone has to deal with there is plenty of that on campus and at least they are less inclined to start singing.

OT: I know this is just a light hearted thread and maybe the implications of the other grated me a bit too much but I'm not really a fan dividing genres by gender

that's not to say some movies don't appeal to one gender more than the other...I just find its way too reminiscent of stupid stereotypes we've all had to endure
well, this is very tongue in cheek as I also did not like the implying that women can't like dude bro movies so I just thought I'd make another thread where everyone (men and women) could talk about romance or female oriented movies ;)

as a side note, I so need to watch Sister Act again.

Amelie (2001) - HELL fucking YEAH!

The Babadook (2014) - Do you see what happened here? I started off with fun movies but these last four are actually pretty scary.
I watched Babadook recently and the movie was ruined by the fact that I don't think I've ever hated a movie child character more.

Amelie is cute and everyone should watch it because Audrey Tautou is my boo.

No mention of Mean Girls in this thread? Ms. Norbury is very disappointed in you.
You don't even go here!
yes, mean girls is a must, I just thought that was a given.

I'm sorry, I know it's got explosions AND it's on my boy's list, but if you want an empowered woman dealing with a hard situation (well, fighting for her life), then Alien has to also be on this list. I consider it a must see for a human of any gender, I guess.
I'll let the explosions pass because Ellen Ripley is awesome, but don't make it a habit ;)

I feel insulted that you would imply that somehow men are too inferior to watch those movies. Im pretty sure a lot of men can handle this stuff.

Why cant males enjoy those movies as well? Im just asking a question here!

I find this entire thread questionable and problematic.

Stop oppressing me!

OT: Gravity i guess, seeing how about 80% of the movie is focused on the women. Though i guess some might be put off by the whole "man is and expert, women is a bumbling fool" - then again, its nice to see this perspective reversed :p

The new hobbit is also kinda fun.
you're questionable and problematic!

Anyway, gravity was not good for my womanly heart, the sequence at the start where's she flinging around made me freaking sick. Girls, take note.

Zombies, you say?

Braindead, the sweetest and funniest romantic comedy of them all! Can't remember if there are any explosions in it, but why no explosions anyway? Stupid rule.
Well, if you want to suggest movies with explosions, I invite you to peruse the 'movies all men should watch before they die' thread, but I'm glad you've been a good sport about this as there's only really extreme gore in Braindead. We don't mind that.

Magic Mike...

On a more "serious" note, there's Bridesmaids, The Heat, Black Swan, and Love Actually...

Other than that, there's The Decent... and any adaptation of a Jane Austin book, but maybe I'm a bit bias on that choice in particular... <color=white>Also, I want to say 50 Shades of Grey, but I haven't seen the movie yet...
All good choices (except 50 shades, let's not bring that filth in here) and I will say that watching Magic Mike, even though it's one of the worst movie I've ever seen, in a cinema room filled with women and their dragged boyfriends was one of the most fun evening of my life.

I was really annoyed by that little boy as well, but what really compelled me was how bad I felt for the mom. She was going through hell.

It's interesting considering that the movie The Thing was mentioned several times in the male version of this topic. The Thing is a classic horror movie, one of the best, but it's really a movie about paranoia. And within those parameters, if I had to sum up The Babadook in just one word as well, that would be 'grief'.

yeah, the atmosphere was chilling and you could see the mother was always nearing breaking point so much that when
she did get inhabited by the babadook
it kind of felt like a natural progression. Those moments at night were stressful af... but man... I really did hate that kid ;p

No. I just have a lot of posts feelings.

We state it anyway, lest those unfortunate enough to have never seen it do not realise of its excellence.

as a side note, I so need to watch Sister Act again.
I've only seen the second one, so I should probably get on that. Same for Amelie.

May I put in a vote for Steel Magnolias? It was a very good film with superb acting that simply strengthened an already compelling story.

And, just to toss an anime into the mix, I would also throw a nod to Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind simply because the main protagonist and antagonist are both strong-willed women fighting for what they believe in (and hopefully that fact will allow the explosions in the movie to slip through the ban)

You're right about 50 SoG... That seems more of a "dude-bro" movie, anyway... :p

Now, I kinda wished I saw Magic Mike in theaters just to see those reactions... Oh well... At least there's the sequel to look forward to, I guess...

I just read your whole post in Ramsey Snow's voice. I'm not sure if that's funny, or scary. Or both, just like the real Ramsey.

OT: Is Les Mis a chick flick? I mean, people say it is, but every guy I know has seen it. I actually saw it in theaters alone because everyone was busy, then went back and watched it a second time with friends. So I guess I'll go with Les Mis.

How about some anime? Millennium Actress (2001) is the highly entertaining story of a pair of documentarians interviewing an elderly Japanese actress told primarily through flashbacks of the films that she starred in during her career. It's pretty cool.

I guess Ramsey Snow saying "The new hobbit is also kinda fun" WOULD be scary.... Ooh! Imagine the crossover!

Heathers. Easily a must see. http://youtu.be/CTmpKgocyYg

I don't know, I think the rest of my list is pretty male-centric. Adventures of Baron Munchhausen is on my 'make people watch this before they die' list. Songcatcher is one of the excellent ones that doesn't have kung fu in it and still manages to be compelling.

I remember being in love with Foxfire when I was thirteen, but honestly can't say if that movie held up or not. It's been years since I saw it. I do remember Angelina got her boobs out for it, and that was fine by me.

I think someone else mentioned it, I just didn't see Heathers brought up yet.

I forgot, also watch My Girl but only because, y'know, all the scary bees.

I agree with Heathers but I would insist that you don't watch any trailers or read anything about it before hand because it will make the film less enjoyable the first time if you know what it's about in advance.

Okay I'm female and I have no interest in watching "girly" flicks

Give me Commando or Demolition Man any day!
