Watch the original Death race 2000 and you will understand that for a remake of a bad 70s movie, it was fucking terrific. You kind of have to appreciate the genre for it's own sake to understand that the movie was designed to be over the top, in a funny, satirical way. But, if that isn't your thing, I can see why you wouldn't care for it. Personally, I fucking love that movie.
I've never made it through The Godfather, my friends have tried to get me to watch it on numerous occasions and every time I just get so bored that I have to turn it off.
Begotten, I'll summarize the first opening 10 minutes or so. The movie opens with God in a shack restrained to a chair and disemboweling himself. From his corpse apparently comes Mother Earth and jerks off the dead God and gets semen all over her hand. She then uses it to impregnate herself.
for the most part, when i decide to sit down and watch a movie, i already have some idea of what its going to be like and i already know ill at least be able to sit through it. even "meh" movies.
but when my dad rents a shitty movie, which he has often done, sometimes ill try to watch them and just cant fuckin do it.
one example would be Southland Tales. AWFUL movie, which is unfortunate, because im a big Dwayne Johnson fan. that film is simply the worst thing hes ever been a part of
300... was the most boring action movie I have seen in my short life. The actors didn't do that bad a job... the look was 'ok'... what ever that means. The whole was less then the sum of the parts, in the end.
Half way though, in Homer Simpson's voice, in my head: bored bored bored bored, etc.
Even The Mist wasn't that hard to watch. Stupid movie, but I got though it.

Also: Bambi is a stupid movie, and the only sad part is that the hunter didn't bring Bambi mommy home to eat. That is what hunting is for: food.
"The Human Centipede"....enough said, that film is.....is.....I don't even want to know what the writer was thinking, nor do I want to know how the actors felt doing those roles. Its not as gruesome as I thought it would be based on what people told me, but it didn't need to be, it was disgusting as it was :/
So yes, name some movies you found hard to watch for some reason or another, either particular scenes or the entire movie.
I couldn't watch The Human centipede because of how bloody disgusting it was, and it was billed as "100% medically accurate". I nearly popped a blood vessel when I found out they were going to pass it off as "medically accurate" but it did make it fun to watch with med students. If you like South park try watching The humancentiPad episode. It is hilarious and takes the piss out of the film. Needless to say that the ending is different to the film, but it is more palatable to watch.
I guess the Idea of black swan is ninas story is...the story of swan lake more or less, with a little phychological horror thrown in, it makes sense anyway

the only way for her to be free was in suicide..and fully accepting her black swan side/madness ok I dont exactally have much of a grasp on the swan lake thing..but yeah there is a reason for all the stuff that happens[/spoiler]
I didn't feel that the parallel between her story and the story of Swan Lake was convincing, particularly from the romance angle. I understand that they were trying to be subtle in the parallel, but for me it all just came off as a bit too...postmodern, for lack of a better word. Maybe I'm just too thick or too old-school (pre-postmodern) for my own good, but at the end of the movie I didn't really get the light bulb moment of "Ah! She truly becomes the Swan Queen!" For me, it was more like, "So they were trying to parallel her life to the story of Swan Lake? I....sort of see what they were going for, but...meh?

Really just the last 15-20 minutes of the movie...
The old lady going nuts. Jared Leto jamming a needle into the huge black sore on his arm. The black guy being trapped in a ass-backwards racist city. Jennifer Connolly literally becoming a drug whore. The cold crushing engine of reality weighing down on your mind as you boldly realize that these souls have been utterly destroyed, directly or indirectly, because of drugs, and all the while the amazing and intense music plays in the background.
It's a damn good movie in terms of its quality, but I can't say that I thoroughly enjoy watching it and it haunted me for a good number of hours after I finished it.
On a funnier note, after watching the movie my friends and I joked that they should scrap the D.A.R.E. program in schools and, instead, just show this movie to them and say, "Okay kids, THIS is why you don't mess around with drugs."
fair enough, perhaps It didnt make me suicidal because I already knew roughly how it would turn out, so therefore I could just enoy it on its own terms
and yeah, I mean who ever thourght talking animals with backwards caps being "cool" would stop people from doing drugs was an idiot, there are good and bad sied to drugs and it should be made very clear
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. I swear that movie lowered my IQ. I unfortunately had an exam the next day and failed...
Passion of the Christ was difficult to watch. I still cringe watching that movie, despite playing gory games. Thats why I believe that video games dont always desensitize people to violence.
Watchmen, I almost walked out 3 times in the first 30 min and 2 more afterwards.
Before you flame me, I didn't read any of the comics and yes, I know this film is more for the fans. But that doesn't mean the film has to completely shitty to everyone else.
I never thought it was for the fans. The creator didn't want it made and everyone I know who likes Watchmen only likes it after watching that film.
OT: I don't think I've had any films hard to get through, but The Last Airbender can certainly encourage me to take the piss every moment. Even in a story sense, ignoring whether or not seen the series, it still made no sense. I can laugh at things like the one massive panning shot that lasts forever, and the 5 earthbenders dancing their hardest to thought a rock roughly the size of someone's head across the screen.
Eat, Pray, Love- Not only was it slow but I found the main character unlikeable and the structure of the plot terrible for a movie. It was more like three separate mini movies. Also as a women it seemed to think it was speaking to me which it really wasn't. Scott Pilgrim was much closer to doing that.
Kill Bill- It definitely had its good points but it was more gore then I can easily handle. Now that I know I have a problem with gore, I avoid films with a really high density of it.
Dogville- Made me hate the human race so much. I guess it was impressive that I got swept up by a film with no sets but it was such an emotionally painful film to watch.

Absolutely horrible. Nothing interesting happened for the first two hours, and by the time the interesting battle at the end started, i just wanted to leave.
