The Fifth Element
Holy balls this movie is amazing. To begin with I love its depiction of a futuristic New York with all those flying cars. There are also great performances From Bruce Willis and Mila Jovovich. It is realy funny aswell such as when the general and his entourage get put in the fridge

when The main badguy's assistant, the aliens and Bruce Willis all try to get on the same flight to Folston paradise under the name of Korban Dallas

I am less enthusiastic about Chris Tuckers Character who is kind of hit or miss.

Les Aventures Extraordinaires d'Adèle Blanc-Sec
Not amazing but still pretty fun. It has an Amelie Poulain like vibe especialy in the beginning.I also think the actress playing the main character is really good. She is a pleasure to watch (especially in the bathing scene . It is a movie that has something for the whole family action, dinosaurs, romance and tits.

Guardians of the Galaxy
I thought it was a fun popcorn movie and I liked the characters but I wasn't really blown away by it. And when it was time for the big final battle I found it tiring and just wanted the movie to be over. On the other hand I forgot to put in my lenses that night and had to put the 3d glasses over my regular glasses which annoyed the shit out of me. So I am planning to give this movie another chance in the near future.

My first Wes Anderson and I liked it a lot. I am definitely going to watch some of his other movies soon.

The recent film I watched was Guardians of the Galaxy and it was AWESOME!!!

Seriously how the hell did Marvel do it? Yes I know their movies has always been great but I was vary of GOTG since I knew little of them and they are abit of a new team in the comicbook per say (formed in 2008 althought there was another GOTG in Marvel that that's competely different).

I've recently watched Zoolander and World's Greatest Dad on Netflix.

Zoolander is now my favorite Ben Stiller movie. Stupid funny with a great cast of characters. What more could I want?

World's Greatest Dad is one of Robin William's movies I hadn't seen or even heard of, but it caught my interest. I haven't finished it yet, but what I've seen is really good.

OT: - Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Pretty good. Like the first one it doesn't quite go the extra mile to make it really great, but it's very tense with some excellent monkey performances.

What can I say? It's another Wes Anderson party and everyone's invited. Ralph Fienes is comedy gold.

Fight Club. The acting was fucking great, the twist at the end was so well done and made me so angry, the cinematography was super great and the soundtrack made me pretty happy. Overall one of my favorite movies in a long time.

For the first time in a few years I watched Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. Still my favorite origin and still a Batman movie I enjoy more than the Nolan trilogy. A couple of weeks ago I checked out Dracula: Dead and Lovin' It and while it isn't one of the more loved Mel Brooks movies, it's much better than I was lead to believe. I don't think it's as quotable as Young Frankenstein or, Blazing Saddles but hey, Look! I'm eating fried chicken and drinking vine!

Watched Darkman for the first time last week and realized how many things the first couple of Mission Impossible movies copied off that film. Which is pretty awesome, by the way. I mean the Sam Raimi movie.

Watched two "new" (for me) John Carpenter movies, Christine and In the Mouth of Madness. Christine's pretty good, Madness not so mouch. I feel like the movie starts off promisingly and then halfway through they start throwing in all these horror movie conventions that made me completely lose my interest in the outcome.

Watched Sliver, one of those 90s sex thrillers that was desperately trying to be sexy. It worked for Basic Instinct and after that we got a whole slew of really lame movies trying to hit it off. Sliver is one of them. It even stars Sharon Stone.

Also watched this really lame gung ho movie Red Dawn, you know the one they remade recently with Thor.

Aaaaand The Beaver. I miss Mel Gibson from the movies. I know he said all those things and we're supposed to hate him for it, I just think it's a shame when a guy gets blacklisted like that and you waste his talent. Now I'm aware he was never a very good actor but he has that endearing charm from Lethal Weapon and Mad Max.

In your defense, it is a pretty unorthodox movie. There is no big plot of get the girl, stop the bad guy, save the big city. It's watching the day of three different guys having an intertwined, violent, hectic day.

The movie's nonlinearity is why you should sort of... struggle through it until the end, so you get all the pieces and you can put them together chronologically in your head. The movie actually abruptly ends in the chronological middle of the day. Plus, most of the scenes are great in their own. Bruce Willis, Samuel L Jackson, Harvey Keitel, and just a little bit of John Travolta dominate the scenes and make all of them memorable.

I completely understand not wanting the finish the movie out of pure disinterest. I was only in it to finish Jules' arc. If you haven't seen all of Jules' part (Marvin, the Jimmy problem featuring Harvey Keitel, the cafe lunch, and the infamous "does he look like a *****" scene), at least go back and watch all those parts, that's where most of the quotes in the movies come from.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2:
This was a mess, not 'bad', but just a mess.
I felt like I was watching two movies that were forced down into one.
It's Spider-Man 3 all over again.

What Dreams May Come:
Always 'meant' to watch this, but finally got around to it.
Not a bad movie, I liked the book a LOT more.

Batman - Assault On Arkham:
This...this was pretty good...considering it's suppose to be a sequel to A.O., which kind of sucked.
Another movie that could have used a R rating, but at least it was enjoyable.

Alien. It was good, definitely enjoyed it. They do kind of do basically all the things you yell at horror movie characters not to do, though, which always annoys me a little. Definitely would recommend.

I recently watched Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, at the suggestion of a comic loving friend. And I have to say, I enjoyed it. It always nice to see the Flash, and even nicer when they acknowledge just how broken his powers can become. I found it to be thoroughly enjoyable, deliciously deviant and violent, and one of the more interesting reality jumps as of late.

I also saw Guardians of the Galaxy recently as well, and loved it. It did have problems, the most glaringly was introducing the whole team in one movie. Overall it was amazing, and as far as marvel moves go, only beat out by Avengers, Iron Man I, and C. America.

Snow White and the Huntsman.

It's really not fair to condemn Kristen Stewart in that. I mean, yeah, her acting wasn't very good, but she was much better than absolutely everything else in that movie, which was rubbish. Except the dresses, they were nice.

I just watched The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet by Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amelie Poulain).
Overall I enjoyed it except for last half hour. I liked the boy's family the shots of America during the journey are beautiful but it all started to go downhill in the last half hour or so when he got to Washington.

Recently just watched 12 years a slave, and I'm sorry I did.

Maybe I'm just the wrong audience for this, but it bored the hell out of me. It got to the one point where

The main dude, forgot his name, was hanging from a tree in silence for what felt like a good 5-10 minutes with absolutely nothing going on

and I turned it off. Despite all the rave and awards this film got, I just could NOT get into it. All felt very arty farty to me, with very little to back it up.

In terms of a "slavery" movie, I think I'll keep Django Unchained at the very forefront of my recommendations to anyone.

So what movies did you recently watch for the first time?

I wish we had more sci fi like this rather than sci fi dystopians...

......yes I know I should probably see gaurdians...

OT: Babel..I had it around and decided to watch it tonight, actually pretty good although face palm inducing in some areas, I also kinda wish it was just a whole movie about the japanese deaf girl instead....

I caught up on a bunch of (mostly superhero) movies this summer (well, late July to now). I think I've only seen one "new" film this summer. In order:

The Dark Knight Rises - I thought it was pretty good, but I think it's really messy and the story gets a bit confusing towards the end. It also shows me that Black Ops II isn't the only thing which has irritating references to the Occupy movement.
Man of Steel - Again, pretty good. Action scenes are wonderful and I quite enjoyed the bits before it as well. There are three scenes which really piss me off, though.
The twister scene just made me go "what the actual fuck!?" without realising it initially.
The final scene with Zod pisses me off because Superman shouldn't do that, and they hadn't established anything like that before.
Lois Lane's travels across the ice. Yeah, I'm sure somebody will do that with no equipment. Unless she literally has no fear.
Spider-Man - Woo! And I actually don't mind Maguire (or however that is spelt) Peter Parker.
Spider-Man 2 - Woo! But is Mary Jane just a plot device at this point?
Spider-Man 3 - It's messy, but I like it. I even timed how long it took for the symbiote to show up. After the first scene (at the 5-10 minute mark), it didn't show up again until like 47 minutes into the film.
Oz the Great and Powerful - I quite liked it, but there are some issues with the thing. Why are there equivalents of the Cowardly Lion and the Straw Man, but not the Tin Man!?
Lilting - I'm pretty sure this film was made on a £10 budget, but it was sweet enough and all artsy and shit.
Iron Man - It was OK, I don't really see the buzz myself, had to watch it in two sittings (first half then second).
Batman Begins - Woo!
The Dark Knight - Well I actually seen part of it five years ago, but now I've fully done it. Woo! Again, and they're both much better than TDKR.

Next movie: Sucker Punch or Django Unchained, I'm not sure which one to start with.

I only recently watched some very good animated movies, no idea why I only now watched them...
They are: Norman, Brave, Frozen and Rise of the Guardians. Very good movies all 4, there still are Frankenwiene and Hotel Transylvania which seem to be in the same category.

The most recent film I have watched in a long time was 22 Jump street a couple of weeks ago, and I really enjoyed it. I actually found it funnier than 21 Jump street. I would have never have thought that Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill would be a good double act, but I am glad I am wrong as they work very well together. On Wednesday, all being well, I am going to see Sin city: A dame to kill for. Hopefully it will have some substance to go with the style, but if there isn't, at least I am going on Orange Wednesdays which means that it would be considerably cheaper than it would have been otherwise.

Transformers 4: Age of Extinction. If I had to pick a favorite of the Bayverse Transformer movies, it'd probably be this one. While that's kind of like saying "Out of these four piles of trash, this one doesn't smell quite as bad" it does have it's good moments. I could actually follow the fights scenes easily this time which was a huge problem I had with the previous movies and I really liked the villains. I loved Lockdown and I always tell people that it seems like the human villains were suppose to be in a better movie. Speaking of the human villains...

I know some people called fowl for Optimus Prime killing that human at the end, but honestly I didn't mind it too much. For me, I figured "well, if there was one human that had it coming, it was that guy." Maybe it's just because to me the betrayel to Optimus's character happened in the third movie when Sentinel Prime was begging for his life and Optimus still killed him so him killing that guy didn't seem quite as bad to me.

I'm apparently suppose to see Bay's TMNT soon and... I have a feeling any goodwill Bay might have gained from me is about to be pissed away.
