Movies into games...

Firefly: Perhaps not based around the characters, but set in the same universe...think, KOTOR sorta gameplay.

Brothers In Arms: It'd be nice to play a WWII game that showed the true horrors of that war...at least, in my opinion it would. And yes, I realize this is more a series of shows than a movie, but...eh. Call of Duty is more glorifying the American soldier back then, than a realistic WWII shooter. And hey, give us a chance to play the damned Nazi's for a chance, wouldja?

Flubber: This'd be a pretty cool platformer game for the DS, where you draw shapes and stuff to make Flubber do various things and whatnot.

Watership Down: I've never seen the movie myself, but from what I've gathered from it, it would make a fairly good Survival/drama/horror type of game.

Princess Mononoke: This I think would be absolutely amazing to play as something like an old-fashioned turn based RPG. If not following the storyline, then at least within the same universe.

And, few games I think would make good movies.

Pokemon Colosseum: The storyline is actually a fairly good one for once, and I think it'd make a pretty good movie so long as Nintendo doesn't butcher it.

Ace Combat 5: I mean...c'mon. It's already got the cinematic quality.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: IF this doesn't become a movie, then Nintendo's marketing agency is filled with complete morons. Ocarina of Time would work too, but I think Twilight Princess would be the one that wins all the golds.

Starfox 64: I think this would make a pretty damn cool movie to watch, given what technology is at. And you know fans would be just waiting to hear Peppy say: "Do a barrel roll!"

Uh, brothers in arms is already a video game. Are you thinking of Band of Brothers?

Cool Movies to Games:

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story - Imagine it as Rock Band with silly songs, and perhaps even more songs and covers, all starring John C. Reilly... I'm kind of excited thinking about it.

A Nightmare on Elm Street - Create a Kid, fight Freddy through all six movies, and then make a "What if?" mode, playing Freddy, or other characters, trying to change the story to see what could have happened.

Demolition Man - Yes, Stallone and Snipes in an expanding of the movie. Who wouldn't want to fight Phoenix (Snipes) in more lenghy battle sequences? Make the Swearing Machine in the movie a Quick Time Event.

Pineapple Express - The Movie already was full of action, combination of beat-'em-up and shooter, so make it a video game, and voila! You have a game starring James Franco and Seth Rogen in a Pro-Pot video game.

Cool Games to Movies:
Eternal Darkness - The only way it would work is if they made it a disturbing atmospheric type movie and not a creature feature.

Metal Gear Solid - Rumor has it.. yadda yadda yadda... I'm just a fan, it should be made here soon.

Ico - This could be Wall-E with a PG-13 rating, really. Not with Robots, but in total silence, it would be gorgeous, just with a lot of adventure involved, pitfalls, symbolism, ETC, it could work.

Indigo Prophecy - This will only work if one director touches it, and that director's name is Alex Proyas... Watch Dark City, then you will see what I'm talking about.

Did you just run through a list of all the media you could think of? Seriously, August Rush the video game. The climax would be getting raped by Robin Williams... I'm almost having trouble believing you exist.

Let's just say Ace Combat in general. I was personally let down by number 5's story in particular... well maybe not the story so much as the horrid faux/forced emotional dialog and bland characters that do nothing but complain about the bombs they drop.

Hell yeah. The story would be pretty simple. The movie left ALOT of they're exploits out of the picture. They could do it Warriors style. Experience they're missions up to, and through the movie. If they used Brothers in Arms combat system, it could be extremely fun.

A full length movie by Valve in the "Meet the Blank" style, specifically the Spy.

Epic. As. Fuck.
Tarantino would be perfect for it too...

i would have to agree on some of those above

bioshock-didn't quite like the game, found the gameplay kinda boring and just didn't care to play, although from what i did play and what ive heard and seen, sounds like could be an epic movie

zelda-holy shit, the OoT could be an amazing movie..see link bash the shit out of ganon in the face with the mirror shield, hell yeah, plus to hear those orcarina songs would rush some memories

star fox 64- hell yes, stupid but it could be a stupid and amazing movie, especially with the right lines, peppy would have to make the movie great, same with star wolf's team "WHAT THE HECK!" lolz

as for movie to game, i would love to do...

troy game (good one, if it has been done) where you could be on the trojans side or the greeks, just to play it out, as achilles or hector, i personally wanted to go fuck some shit up after achilles took the chapel by himself then did that 200 yard spear throw into that dudes neck, shitttt

just a notice, they did do Red Dawn as modern warfare two basically...if anyone noticed the "Wolverines!" mission, so that was nicely done i think. it woulda been sweet if they had like a destroyed jeep with teh spraypainted logo on the side or something like in the movie

someone mentioned before, V the miniseries, has sooo much shit to go off of imo, that could be a fun game, somewhat of like a mass effect combination fps/rpg

Movie-Game: Bladerunner.

Easily made into FPS or Third-Person-Shooter, but better if you were following an alternate storyline that was set in the "world" of Bladerunner.
There was a Blade Runner point and click game - that had an alternate storyline, parallel with the one of the film. A remake of that using the same storyline but in (as you said) FPS or third person shooter; that would be brilliant.

As much as I would love to see a Half Life film also, I don't think the game has the right elements to make a film. There is no love interest (which comes as standard in films if they are to be successful these days, sadly and if you mean the original half life - the closest thing you've got there is Alyx but she's sort of the wrong age for Gordon at the time if you get what I mean =S).

The problem with making games into films as a whole is that the two are constructed so differently - the games focusing on action sequences where only small amounts of actual plot are required to hold them together in most cases, and films where plot is the focus and is made interested by being punctuated with action scenes. This means that a film-to-game adaption could work, but the content of the original film would need to be padded out with new action sequences to play through, and a game-to-film adaption would require the re-writing of the plot in order that it would provide more interest than just action sequences for the length of the movie.

I could see Half Life 2 working though ... but then how would you get the back story from Half Life (1) and such in?

That sounds kinda fun! :)
We sat watching 'Children Of Men', the other day and my eldest son said that he thought if done properly the concept would make for a good game.

[HEADING=2]Assuming these would have original plots instead of recycling existing ones, and would actually be competently made...[/HEADING]

Well, as was stated above, Mass Effect and Bioshock could be a good picks for live-action movie adaptation - for obvious reasons.

Mirror's Edge could be an equivalent of French parkour film District 13... BUT SHINY!

Team Fortress 2 would make awesome 3D cartoon, as would Ratchet & Clank series (which is already as close to a Pixar movie as videogames get). They could hire same actors as an added bonus.

[small]I can actually see Ratchet & Clank cartoon working. The setting is good for adventure movies, as is Ratchet's "quest for the rest" subplot. All the running, jumping, and shooting would make awesome action sequences... oh look, i'm drifting off again.[/small]

Upcoming Just Cause 2 (the movie is supposedly in the works), if they hired Michael Bay to film it. Bond pastiche made of explodium FTW!

As for a game-to-film: American McGee's Alice [if done correctly ie: by keeping Tim Burton and Danny Elfman THE HELL away from it]

As for a film-to-game: Equilibrium ... if done correctly of course. Like, if Team Ninja did it, that would be pretty bad ass.

As for an interesting, Only-in-Japan kind of game: A dating sim based on every female character in the entire Saw franchise: You play as a Jigsaw copy-cat with a bondage fetish and the unfortunate habit of kidnapping young women, collecting them for your pleasure dungeon [the capturing of course, comes after a sort of 'dating' bit where you get to know the girls by stalking, staring and, train-time-groping]

And now for the wildcard: I would love to see a movie about the Pokemon Trading Card Game. I can see it as being like the film, Fanboys only much nerdier and with absolutely no chance of sex of any kind.

3.5 tons of clay to make the game, wonder how much would be needed to make a movie.
