For those of you who don't still live in the primitive age of CD players like I do.
if by primitive you mean less full sound and much like cds have less of a full sound than a record

i'd say an ipod nano or something like that

I had a creative zen (the small one) for a bit, it worked very well. I now have an iPod touch and I love it. Creative and Apple are, however, the only two companies that I've heard good things about.

for $147 at walmart you can get the 4th Gen 8gig Ipod nano, i love it, battery lasts through a full day of constant use and holds my entire music library (1800 songs) with room to spare :p

I use my PSP for my music. 2GB memory stick is all I ever really need-- if I get bored of a song I just swap it out.

Guess I'm just ghetto like that. At least my PSP is getting some use.

i can recommend the new creative x-fi zen mp3 players. along with some proper quality headphones, it's like listening to studio quality music.

My PSP works fine for me, and it does so much more!
I've always liked the PSP as a media centre, it's just... Not as handy and pocket sized as some other devices. When you're walking and you have your PSP in your bag, it can be a bit of a ***** to change tune or volume.

My suggestion is a Creative Zen. They're cheaper, and so much better than an iPod.
