So, i've been playing Magic the Gathering: Duels of the planeswalkers- 2012 for the past hour or so now, and i have a question...

how can i not absolutely f*%#ing suck!!!

I've tried beating the very first boss, Koth, roughly 7 times now, on the easiest difficulty, but i can still come no where even possibly near to beating him.

Would anyone care to leave some tips or advice for me so i can at least have a chance?

also, for discussion value: have you ever gotten so stuck in a game that you've had to seek help? what game and what part.

I beat him but I had some experience playing Magic years ago so I had an idea of what I was doing.

I used a green deck (Can't remember the name) and just kept spamming out mana and weak creatures to block until I got a 4/* or 5/* and went on the attack with overwhelming numbers he couldn't block everything and what he blocked would die against the 5/* leaving him with one less defence each turn. (as we were each only drawing one card a turn).

Oh and to help in the late game there is a card in the green deck I'm not sure it's name but it allows you to draw to cards for each 3/3 or less card you originally draw I believe. (may not be completely accurate)

As for me I got it today and was stuck on Kiora Atua I think her name is the blue/green Planewalker, oh the Hatchlings! those damned hatchlings blocking my 15/15 card :( and there were so many of them. :(

Maybe if you explained the differences between the digital version and the actual game I might be able to help.
I'm told your deck building is somewhat restricted in the digital version. Is this true?

According to their FAQ on it the game lets us customize the deck once additional cards have been unlocked by defeating opponents. We can then decide what Original deck pool cards and/or unlocked cards we want to put in our custom deck and land cards are added automatically by the AI.

The Core decks we start with is 'Apex Predators' - Green (My personal choice) or 'Weilding Steel' - White

First opponent is using the Red Deck 'Strength of Stone' and is called Koth it is the boss the OP is stuck on I believe.

The list of decks, cards and characters using them can be found on the link to follow : http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Digital/Article.aspx?x=mtg/digital/d12/decks

Honestly, I prefer the White Deck against Koth.

For your starting hand I highly recommend at least two plains, either a Kor Duelist or Kitesail Apprentice, and one equipment.

Drop the Duelist/Apprentice on turn 1. Then drop whatever you can until you get your equipment out. Equip it on the D/A and attack. The Duelist will have double strike so it will be both very hard to kill and very dangerous to Koth, while the apprentice will be unblockable since Koth has no flying. Your other creatures are basically support, so feel free to use them for blocking.

Try not to waste any Hookmasters early game since these can lock down Koth's bigger creatures, giving you more time.

I'm honestly not fond of the Green Deck against Koth. He moves too quickly most of the time for the starting deck. Maybe it gets better if you unlock more cards, but off the starting block, I found the white better able to deal with fast decks.

I had a buddy with not much Magic experience who went through the same thing.

Two things make starting MTG 2012 difficult -- 1) you have to unlock the good cards and 2) the green deck. Let's talk about the green deck. Actually, let's not.

Just switch to the white deck, kill Koth because you can because you're not playing with the awful green deck with no unlocked cards (oops, talked about the green deck). Then kill Garuk over and over. Steele can lay serious whoop on Garruk because you can get some pretty devastating equipment out and Garruk can't really deal with flyers. After you get all the cards open for the white deck take out all the Angel Feathers and 2/2 guys w/ no bonus. Oh, and I'd take out the Archangel of Strife since she seems to help my opponent as much as me, but that's my own bias. Just doing this will get you through 90% of the campaign and unlock the other decks. My favorite is the illusions deck stripped of all its creatures but the illusions and lords. Good luck!

I beat Koth with the green deck. I waited a few turns and finally had the regenerate troll card in my hand and played. In combination with sorcery cards and timing I beat him. The AI seems to get the cards they want and need at all times oddly.
