I don't tend to 'rage', while playing multi-player games. I can play Left 4 Dead/2, COD, etc, without getting angry.
I can usually shrug everything off. Just play to have fun and make jokes when I play with friends, or if I am randomly grouped with friendly , equally non-rage people.

Though there is this one game, that brings out the worst in me.
Especially when I play on Ventrilo, with friends.
I am not sure why, I just get angry when I play.

That game is: League of Legends.

It's not that I don't enjoy the game, I do! It's fun, the characters are unique and interesting, and the game is free to play. I am just not sure what it is about L.o.L, that brings on that kind of behavior. I don't play it very often to avoid verbally abusing friends and random non-ragey people. Or I try to play with friends, without Ventrilo, so I am not tempted to tell them things during the game. I'll play a couple games in a row when asked, but after that I have to stop when I feel the anger and irritation creeping in.

So Escapists, are there any multi-player games (or any games), that bring out the worst in you?

Red Faction for the PS2.

I do not rage in multi-player. The end. But only in Red Faction do I gloat and belittle my opponents. "Nuclear go BOOM!"

Super Street Fighter 4. Ryu users, I fucking hate shoto scrubs, they're so broken beyond belief. High priority anti-air? Check. Fast projectiles? Check. Most 'balanced' character my arse.

Im kinda the same way. Nothing really phases you. You can get noobtoobed 8 times in a row.

You'll ragequit the match, join a different one, and completely forget it ever happened.

Killzone 2 and MW2

One match the Helghast Assualt rifle is a beast for me. The next, it can't kill for shit. I don't use the M82 much anymore because the healghast assualt rifle actually gives you the alility to aim dow the sights from close range.

Mw2 is just MW2....

I actually don't rage too often as i rarely talk during online matches. But the only time i ever truly went rage and starting yelling at everyone in the game was Halo 3. Don't think i need to explain that one.

Bad Company 2. Used to love it, now I despise it with every fiber of my being.

Red Dead Redemption's Free Roam. Thank Christ they made the non-PVP servers.

I just played a round of halo Reach Firefight. There was a guy on it who was like " OMFG I JUST SHOT THAT GUY, WHERE DID THAT GRENADE COME FROM? THESE ENEMIES ARE TOUGHER THAN NORMAL, OMFG. WHY DID I DIE THEN? FUCK YOU GAME, ARGHHHHHHHH" solidly for about ten minutes. I really do not understand why someone would play a game if it stresses them out so much. They are there to be enjoyed, yes accept a challenge from them. But dont line yourself up for a heart attack/ stroke/exploded head by the time you're 30....

Games don't really anger me...

Modern Warfare 2. Yeah, I know, shocker.

1. Anyway, camping, annoying but not enough to get me to rage.

2. Random grenades, also annoying but also not enough.

3. Random noob-tubes fired into the sky then land at your feet, WHAT THE FUCK?! but still not enough.

4. Quick-scoping...AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I FUCKING HATE QUICK-SCOPERS!!!!!!!!! If you quick-scope I already hate you.
I WILL rage-quit a game if I constantly get killed by quick-scopers.
I hate quick-scopers so much that if I knew how to hack computers, I would create a virus that would reek havok with your 360 and reset your gamerscore to 0 if you quick-scoped me. Everything else I can take in stride but this is something I HATE WITH A PASSION!

Practically any one-on-one fighting game.
1/Can never remember the combos
2/Any techniques learned can be outdone by button mashing
3/Button mashing never works for me.

Makes me want to fight for real.
bad times.

TF2. Mostly when people Scout Rush or play exclusively Sniper or spy. Most of all it's the smug gits who use the Ambassador to snipe people, completely neglecting the way their class is supposed to be played. Actually, I just hate that game. But I love it. I hate the players. I love the game. :p

Also, Alien Swarm when people try to rush and/or solo, leaving me and the newbie behind. And there is ALWAYS a newbie in my games. And he always attracts seven billion aliens and then dies, leaving me to fend them off. Meanwhile, Rambo McStupidPants has run to the event and is done hacking, trying to run through the gates but gets killed and I have to try and solo the rest of Demia Surface Bridge while the idiot is writing his Russian gibberish at me. Probably asking me to die so he can play more. OH! Or the people who refuse to look at post-mission stats. I've been kicked a few times now for wanting to look at my kill count etc. That is bullshit. GOD I hate people. D:<

^^I hear you on both of those games, camping in RDR is the worst because 3rd person is exploited so much.

Am I the only person who loves it when they get a guy like this on their team? I just find it hilarious, I can't stop laughing as long as they keep it up.

If I'm mic I don't rage, I can keep it in. In fact I hardly ever talk, certainly won't insult people. But if I'm not.... hoooo boy. Many insults will be shouted.

But the one thing that really pissed me off was on Battlefield 2; you had poor accuracy if you were standing, even more so if you were running (like usual), problem was that it took no time to go prone where you had near 100% accuracy even on full automatic. So you'd have people run around a corner, go prone for 2 seconds and blast you, then run up and sprint off again. I don't really know why, but that really, really annoyed me. That and people would impliment their own "balancing" on private servers (and there were no public ones on PC for that game): no using C4 for the commando class, no commanders allowed in Helicopters, no Medics allowed to heal themselves(?!), etc.

Playing Diablo II on Hardcore and getting telefragged by stupidly high-level Sorcs (You begin a boss fight, they go to town, hostile you, then teleport and gib you.) I only got caught a couple times but man did I RAGE. What does a lvl 82 Sorc need with crappy lvl 45 Assassin gear? FFS

The only time I ever really "rage" is when I'm stuck with people who are on the extreme ends of the spectrum for emotions when gaming. If my entire team seems to think they're the next pro gamers, and only plays to win instead of having fun, I get pissed off.

Conversely, if all they want to do is dick around, I get pissed off. I reside somewhere in the center, where I can still screw around and have fun, but want to win the match. Using the OP's example of LoL, I never vote for the surrender if we're losing. I may have a sucky win-loss ratio, but I'd rather enjoy the match and keep trying to win. Or, barring any chance of winning, I'd rather go have fun blowing stuff up away from the main combat, and goof around harassing the enemy base. For the most part, though, I'm pretty mellow. And if anyone asks me to voice chat, I deny it. Too many issues there.

Modern Warfare 2 has this unique habit of making everyone who plays it really, really angry. One of my housemates plays it on PC, and his reactions during any given game are youtube-worthy. If ever I suggest that the game is causing him more stress than joy, he insists that he gets enough of a buzz from winning to make it worthwhile.
Watching him, however, it becomes clear that, with all his screaming at the screen and pounding of the desk, that the frustration of any given game far outweighs the benefits of winning.
I stopped playing a while back because I found that I was more stressed by playing the game (even when winning) than I ever was whilst working. Which kind of defeats the point of gaming. I never rage-quit mid-game though. That is my line, and I will not cross it!
