I received a multi-tool as a Christmas gift last year after going on a week long Survivorman binge. I figured that if I too carried a Leatherman multi-tool, I could be as cool as Les Stroud. Since then, I have used it to assemble my swank desk chair, fix a leaky toilet, cut guitar strings, and open more than a few bottles of beer. My most heroic moment was using the file to strip away the corrosion build-up on the battery contacts of a stranger's bricked car, getting him back on the road.
Do any other Escapists carry a multi-tool? What type? Do you have any cool stories of how you used it to save the day?

EDIT: This is the model I have...

I carry around a Swiss Army Knife. I use it to cut loose threads off of my clothing, and sometimes I use the bottle opener bit to open non-twist-off bottles. I am not as exciting as the OP.

I have a very tiny swizz army knife. It has a near useless tiny blade, a tiny scissor and a mini file/screwdriver.

Used it theother day to unscrew my PC and cut some strips inside so i could change the power supply.

since the blade is very small it's only good for cutting small stuff, like babies, baby-seals, generally anyting involving baby

In public? If so, how bad ass did you feel, and also, were there any curious police...

Of course in public.
And it wasn't really about the feeling, it was ... necessary.

And I'm very good at hiding things that aren't supposed to be there.

I once used my swiss army knife (Victorinox) and I saved the day once by using the corkscrew to open a bottle of wine.

I have a Swiss Army knife, and a mini shovel (trowel? spade?) that has a built in hatchet, saw, hammer, wrench, nail puller, compass, and bottle opener.

It is always beside my bed, waiting for a burglar to walk in.

You are awesome! Here is how your intro will go:

"If you need to open a beer, he is there. If you need to fix your car, he is there! IF YOU NEED TO ESCAPE CERTAIN DEATH, HE IS THERE!!!'

What do you think?

The trowel sounds pretty badass. You can hit the burglar over the head with it, and you've got everything you need to dispose of the body right there...

I have a kukri that i take with me when i go fishing and one of those knives the commandos use because its pure liquid awesome.
The way i see it, the knife is the only thing a real man would ever need to use on a multi tool. It can fix almost as much as the almighty hammer

Sir, you have made me jealous of your mini shovel.
I used to have a swiss army knife but I lost it somewhere when I moved.
