I have both a PS3 and 360 so when they announce a game to be a multiplatform game I can't decide what console I should get it for. At the moment I cant decide what system I should get Red Dead Redemption for. I first and foremost want it for the console it looks best and runs best on. I would think PS3 but thats not always the case ( looking at the long legged glasses wearing gun shooting whore ) So how do I decide what system I should buy my multiplatform games for?

If you have both consoles please state that in your post. Also If anyone could tell me what Red Dead Redemption looks and feels better on that would be much appreciated.

I've heard that the graphics for RDR are better on Xbox, but I've never played the PS3 version, so I can't compare.

Personally, I would choose based on which platform I could get the game for cheaper. (Actually, I'd probably grab multiplayer games for the PS3 so that I could play online without needing to pay a monthly fee.)

Go with your personal favorite. Maybe you just like the way the 360 controller feels over the PS3 or some such.

Graphical difference generally isn't so great you'd notice without the two versions being side-by-side.

Go with the PS3. It'll pay to conserve playtime on your 360, seeing as it's a ticking time bomb...

I've got both platforms. I favor the 360 though. I mainly just use the PS3 for blu rays. I would say shooters for the 360 though, because of the controller and, RPGs for the PS3 since...well, there aren't many RPGs on the 360 (except of course Mass Effect and Fable which are both exclusives). I had Red Dead on the PS3 though and it is really pretty. It ran alright but the controls were bad and I lost interest in Red Dead really, really quickly (I quit once I got to Mexico). Unless I'm mistaken, the PS3 version has an extra city.

If all else fails then just flip a coin.

I'm pretty sure there's only minor differences between the 360 and PS3 versions of RDR, I played it on the 360 and it played quite well.

Also, prepare for a horrible ending!

Funny you say that because I asked a guy at Game Stop and he said he like the PS3 version better. Second I tend to buy multiplayer focused games on the 360 because If Im paying the monthly fee I want my moneys worth and frankly PS3 online seems dead quiet compared to XBL. Example: I just got the new Need for speed for my PS3 and I find the same people over and over in matches and everyone only does like 2 different types of races. I CANT DO RACES WITH NO PEOPLE JOINING!

I kind of have my own little rule for it since I have more friends on Xbox Live than Psn if it is more of a multiplayer focused Game than i will get it for the Xbox and if it is more of a single player one then i get it for the PS3 also this rule is modified by things like is one console getting early Dlc or the like

Semi-related, but the exception to that seems to be Bad Company 2 on PS3, I genuinely find it curious as to how the MP for that game on Xbox Live is practically dead, yet there's a metric shit ton of servers and available games on PSN.

OT: I usually do it based on price, I tend to buy everything on my PS3 these days anyway, mainly because I prefer it, mainly because the portion of my friends who's company is enjoyable are on PSN and mainly because the games I specifically want tend to strangely be a little cheaper...And those blu-ray discs are indestructible.

Oh and I have long since said "Fuck it" to paying for online play.

Seriously, thats what I do.

Heads = 360
Tails = PS3
Pretty much same as I do. Except I now use the Good/Evil coin I got with Fable III Collectors.

As for Red Dead Redemption, I'd say PS3 simply because you then don't have to pay to play multiplayer. And that game's multiplayer is pretty awesome.

i tend to buy games for my 360 because i like the controller and the achievement system better than the PS3's control and its trophy system. i would say go for the PS3 if you dont have a gold membership since PSN is free but if you have a gold membership i would say go with the 360 because they tend to have better servers. the differences between consoles are very slim (excluding hardware) and you should buy games for the console which has the things you like more. i love single player and hardly touch multiplayer so for me the choice is obvious

Usually when trying to decide what platform to get a game on it comes down to this:

-Is the game multiplayer? If it is what system do I have more friends on that will play the game with me?

-What exclusives is each platform offering me, if any? Arkham Asylum had the Joker as a exclusive character for the PS3 and he was WAY more fun to play as.

-What version is "better." Better graphics, Better framerate, mod support. I have a gaming PC so games like Portal and TF2 are just no brainers for the PC.

-Personal preference. I like using Party Chat on my Xbox and I like the controller more, but that's just me.

As for your RDR problem in particular I don't have the game, but I never read anything about one version being inferior to another. Also their metacritic scores are so close I really doubt there is any noticeable difference between them.

It is worth mentioning that I have a Wii. It just never gets any use.
