I like both evenly. When single player games are done right like Ocarina of Time, Super Metroid, Lylat Wars, Golden Eye 64, etc. You get completely immersed into the game and just want to play it till the very end. No time for food or sleep, getting to the next boss is more important than life right now.

For multi-player games it takes a little longer to find the perfect game, but when you do you slowly decay in front of your computer with no sense of time killing other players. Sometimes it can get really epic when you join a large clan and plan out strategies to take over castles or whatever and it's all you want to talk about, your family and friends just respond to you "yep, sure, great, don't care" but they have no idea how much fun your having.

I've experienced both and it's a wonderful experience that I wish could last forever.

Someone playing to win by actually playing the game isn't a cheat, but someone who plays the game and uses the exploits that give someone an unfair advantage, is a cheat, it's that level of "I MUST win" that really bothers me, and seems to be more prevalent in the younger people on XBOX Live. There were a number of glitches in Modern Warfare 2 that made it very frustrating for those of us who like to keep moving, have a face-to-face fire-fight, and generally play the game as it was meant, such as the Javelin glitch that is thankfully now fixed.

For those who didn't know, people were running around with the Javelin equipped in such a away that if they died, it would go off and create a large blast radius that most likely killed their killer, meaning that you had to keep well away. And if they managed to get close enough, they'd just knife you.

I do like sniping on levels that seem to be made for it, but I dislike being sat behind a crate where someone on the other side can see the very tip of your head, but on your screen you have your gun over the top of it. Really bad animations/character models on that game.

Ah, see, we have found the discrepancy. To me, someone who abuses any clearly unintended glitch or mechanic is not playing to win, they are in-fact, a hacker, in everything but name. They just arnt using 3rd party software.
I see your point, two different explanations of what a cheater is. I have heard stories about people hacking to tenth prestige in MW2 and also apparently resetting other people's ranks to 1. I don't know if that is actually possible, but it's a damn shame if it is. Fix the damn game Infinity Ward.

I prefer SP games mostly. If they're like RPGs and such. Campaigns for FPS's are always short, and lacking in content though.

As for multiplayer, I'll usually get a game if it has good multiplayer. It'll keep me busy for awhile, and it'll make me want to play it for long.

Could've been a poll. As for me I prefer single player. Multiplayer is just extra IMO.

Hm...It admittedly does take quite the game to make single-player entertaining for me. Quite a few have done this before online gaming was invented though (besides PC).

Turok, Glover, Mario 64, Road Rash, Jungle Strike, just to name a few before the PS2 even came out.

Now I've got stuff like Okami, Twilight Princess, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Medieval II: Total War, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Need for Speed: Underground, Midnight Club: L.A., and so on...

Admittedly, I prefer it when I have a single player game that's got multiplayer options, like Frontlines: Fuels of War just for an example.

I really only prefer single player games. A game has to be especially good and have an above average community for me to enjoy multiplayer. Team Fortress 2 is a good example of this, as is the left for dead series. Both games have stellar communities full of pleasant, nice, and fun people.

I hate SP FPS mainly as the A.I is fucking stupid. You either have retarded team mates who require you to kill everyone or fight against A.I that can headshot you with a straw and spitball from 2.5km away. Actually, that is pretty much what you get.

I should be able to play a historical version of a game, such as D-Day campaign and still complete the level without killing a single sod. Oh wait, my team mates can't actually kill the a.i...oh wait, they are respawning? Oh, I, the lowly private, have to surge forward to prevent them re-spawning.

Not to mention most of the OTT stories, where one man bops the nazi empire on the head single handly whilst shitting american pie, fish n' ships, flags or w/e.

I much prefer playing online in teams to be another person, a rival. Not some stupid scripted A.I.

I like both. But I'm more of a fan of singleplayer. Multiplayer is a bit of a bonus - singleplayer is the main event.

I definitely perfer single-player. For me the most imported aspect of a game is the story and the multiplayer rarely have a deep story.

I gotta add, I only buy FPS based on their MP. Rarely is a SP story with getting with the exceptions of MW+MW2 having an actual decent story line. AI and that is guff but it is fun just running around pistoling folk.
