Munchkin

I just recently discovered a rather odd game called Munchkin [http://www.worldofmunchkin.com/], which can be either a card game, an RPG or a Tabletop game. It's mainly based around cheating, and being trecherous.
It looked sort of interesting, so I thought to ask: has anyone here played it? If so, what's it like?

Sounds cool. I do enjoy betraying people who save my life by stomping them in a mech sute despite being in a fantasy enviornment.

Been playing it on and off since about 2003. There are about 15 other versions all playing on different cliches of different genres Like Munchkin Fu, Star Munchkin, or my favorite munchkin cthulu. Yes you can combine the diffent games to get a
: Elven Techie who knows Phone Fu and holds Eldrtich Secrets as you battle the 'dread gazebo'

It's a game that can be played from time to time but I wouldn't want to play it every week. Large groups are much better.

I've seen it, but I can't remember if I've played it. I know I've played something like it, though. Damned if I can remember it.

Not as good as Paranoia. Which would be the most awesome MMO ever IMHO.

The game is awesome...especiallly since you can combine the card sets and get some pretty bizarre combinations like a ninja/wizard who rides a quarter horse uses a giant rock and his origin story was he was bitten by a radioactive chihuahua

Munchkin is a nice, funny little card game. Great game for passing time. Easy to learn, effortless to start (not much set-up.) The only downside is that the game isn´t very balanced. One time we played two matches; The first one ended after about 20 minutes, but the second dragged on for hours. It can be quite irritating, when the game just doesn´t seem to get started. Still, it´s pretty enjoyable. You can get good laughs from it, that´s for sure.

The card game is really fun, as long as you're 3+ persons backstabbing SOB's with little to no morale.

Just make sure that everyone reads the rules before playing.

Theres many different versions of the cardgame, the original fantasy one, a sci-fi one, a kong-fu one, a vampire one, a cthulu one etc.

They work like each other, and with each other if you have more than one.

Theres expansions to the different games as well, these work best if you have the matching original (original munchkin for fantasy expansions, Space munchkin for clown wars etc.)

Ah, the backstabbing part is absolute fun, as is generally messing with other players. "Oops, turns out the Potted Plant is actually ancient, humongous and angry."

It´s always a bit bewildering, when you first backstab someone by making him fight, say, the Tentacle Demon and then offer to help him.

It's also the only game i've ever played where it says in the rules that you can cheat as long as you don't get caught.

Not played it, but I hear it's really enjoyable. One of the guys I listen to on an intertube radio station recommended it.
