Taking Nick's burger, he scarfed down his one burger and started on the second one. While following David and Damien, thoughts of the disembody voice began to claw at the back of his mind. What would the voice of god, which is the nickname he's going to give it, want with little old Luke? Maybe it saw something in me, potential. Or maybe he was just the first person to be split up with the crowd. Either way, Luke needs to stay vigilant. Well, more so than usual. There is much more to this island than all of the rumors. They have never said anything about ghost, promising him great things.

"So, did that guy say what his name was?"

"Nope," said Jon, then grinned, "But it seems the burgers weren't poisoned after all. Good stuff." He stopped, thought, then said, "Right, time to get to school. I've had something to eat, but I'm starting to run out patience."

He turned, and headed for the school once more. He still held the map.

Knowing it is best to stick with the man with the map, Luke followed Jon. Doing so, he was on his way to the school, if you can still can call it a school.

"So, you said that you're Jon, right? I don't think that we have had the opportunity to properly introduce ourselves. What have you been charged with to be here? Not saying that you did it of course."

"Jon Shannow's the name, but people call me Doc, cos I fix people" said Jon, as if that answered everything. When This didn't seem to satisfy Luke, he continued, "that's what I'm here for. I fixed people. You ever found, I dunno, an old radio, taken it apart and put it back together so it worked? That's what I do with people, and it worked too. Cops didn't like it, said i was a danger so I'm here."

He looked at Luke, "I never killed anyone, and I mostly did the work under anaesthetics. The law doesn't like me, but I'm not a bad person. I hate it when people tell me I'm a monster, or that there's something wrong with me. Don' they know that people can be hurt by shit like that? I only try to help, and people treat you like a murderer and an animal and put you on an island with a bunch a psychos and now I'm stuck here and..."

Jon's expression changed as he seemed to realise that he was ranting, "Well, you can see I'm not happy about it. What about you? What did you do? Sorry, what were you charged with?"

Aurore found herself alone, she looked around. She somehow had managed to be separated from the group. She started shivering from a mixture of fear and cold. She put her hands on their opposite arms and rubbed them in an attempt to stop the shivering, it didn't work. She raised her hands to her mouth and breathed onto them and then repeated what she had done before, it became better then it was before but not much. "H-Hello! Anyone there!?" Her voice was higher-pitched then normal, what usually happened when she was scared.

While listening to this Doc rant, Luke figured that he wouldn't be too much of a problem to him. While it might be best for him to team up with him. Strength in numbers, as he always said. Luke was nearly tempted to tell Doc about his close encounter with the...thing in the house. Yet, he doubt that anyone would believe anything he said. Best to keep it to himself for now. At least, until Luke is sure that he isn't going slightly mad.

"Well, you can see I'm not happy about it. What about you? What did you do? Sorry, what were you charged with?"

As Jon finished his rant, and asked him how he got here, Luke smirked. If you could only say one thing about Luke, it would be that he loves being the center of attention.

"You know that old radio that you fixed? I would buy it from you then sell it to someone else for double the price. The problem is, sometimes the old radio would be a little hot, if you know what I mean? The Man didn't like the idea of a 17 year old selling enough...stuff," he said with air quotes, "to equal that of the gangbangers in the hood, you dig? Some judge with a iron fist thought that my illegal racketeering added a negative influence towards my peers, so he sent me here to get reeducated on how to be a proper citizen. You know what the real kicker is? If my ex-partner in crime didn't get pressured in turning me in, I wouldn't be here. So that is my life story in a nut shell."

Luke turned back to the rest of the group, cupped his hands over his mouth and shouted "Maybe you guys would want to get to the school before those 'roid freaks come back!"

"Pretty impressive" Jon nodded, "You musta worked hard to get a set-up like that going. Did they catch you from the profits?"

He glanced back as Luke shouted to the others, then said, "You reckon we could kill one of those things? I want to chop one up and see how it works"

"I'd imagine the same way most humans work. Heart, lungs, liver, appendix, the usual. Muscles are probably the same usual drill too, just a lot larger, and with an awful lot of cocaine, a hefty bit of ball-shrivelling shark testical extract and whatever else they put into steroids nowadays to get the largest amount of beefy numbskull they can." Nick called back, speeding up a little to catch the pair. "They can be taken down, but you'd have to get past the metal plating, a thick slab of muscle and then ruin their lungs or heart so they can't get enough oxygen round their Hulk-wannabe bodies to keep moving. I say this because while there might be something in their heads to damage, it's too heavily protected to make it a viable target"

"Catch me from the profits? Nah, I keep my profits in a pillow cases in my closet. No, they heard about me through the grape vine. Kinda hard to keep an organization that size a secret for too long. I got caught when my "second in command" got arrested with possession of a felony amount of drugs. Ratted me out for a shorter prison sentience. Life sucks like that."

With the man known as Nick caught up with the pair of them, Luke laughed. "God dang, when you describe it, you make it sound way too easy. Why didn't you do that when they first showed up?"

Damien sighed and walked back to Aurore, pushing her forward. He shook his head. "Aurore. Stay with the group. And remember, from now one, if anyone asks, you got a dui and killed the cop in order to get away. You did everything on purpose. I can't protect you in the beginning, so there you're on your own. Just try to survive until we meet again- I don't break my promises." Damien smiled as they caught up to the group. He saw the school loom up in front of them. "Well, looks like this might be it. Good luck to everyone, try not to get killed."

David paid little attention to the others though he did keep pace in a sporadic way. He seemed intrigued by the rubble alongside the road. David would run a bit ahead of the group, find a pile of debris and spend some time poking through it until the group was a bit ahead of him, then run ahead and repeat.

"Well Lucas," Nick said, in a mock condescending tone "When they attacked, I found myself without a high calibre rifle that can pierce armour. If you happen to have something like that hidden about your person in a fashion similar to Damien's knife, then I'd be very pleased to ablige in doing so. If not, it would be a mite harder to perform the feat." He summarised, a smug grin plastered across his face as he said it. "In all honesty though, I wouldn't go toe-to-toe with one of those tanks even with an armour piercing rifle, they'd probably knock it out of my hands and beat me to a bloody, pulpy mess with it, and mix me up as a protein shake, which as you can imagine, would not be on my to-do list."

"Thus you reinforce my point?" asked Doc, "My priorety is finding an alternative method to pacify the constructs, and then find out how they are made. It not just the biology, but the way they are made to keep alive. I built a dog like them once, minus the armour, but it degraded too quickly."

As soon as Nick said 'Lukas,' his face visibly retreated into something that could be described as a combination between anger and embarrassment.

"My name isn't Lucas" Luke quietly mumbled to himself. His name on his birth certificate actually say "Luke Hamill", not Lucas. That is one of Luke's pet peeves, assuming that his real name is Lucas.

"I know Luke, I was only messing with you" Nick said, holding a hand towards Luke "No hard feelings?" He asked, leaving the hand out as he turned his head towards Doc "Like I said, like most humans. They've got a lot to keep alive, but cows do it with a large heart and lungs, and they seem to be doing fine. Actually, they've probably got more in common with buffalo, but that's not the issue. They'll have to breathe heavily to get enough oxygen, but without any particular interference, they'll keep on going. There's no real reason to study them any more than we already have, but yeah, we could kill one if we needed to, though it'd be one hell of a task."

Jon shook his head, "Not just what kit they use, but how they were put together; anti-immune drugs, surgical methods, animal substitues or human transplants. Like with a car, it's more than just 'It's made of metal, duh'"

He grinned, then said, "Not that I think you're thick or anything, you just don't know much about bio-mechanics. We gotta be careful about manners, y'know; most of us are dangerous and as many are notoriously unstable."

There was a scalpel in his hand as he said this, though he did not brandish it, merely holding it tight with white knuckles, and trying the edge with his thumb

"Ah, right. That makes an awful lot more sense now you've explained it. In my uneducated opinion, I'd imagine for at least some small part it involved a lot of drugs, and nigh-on living in the gym. Hell, with the way this place seems to be shaping up, they've probably claimed the gym as their territory, and kill anyone who walks in there without a cattleprod and a length of industrial steel cable to tie 'em up." Nick said, not quite thinking through his sentence, and saying it as it came to him. "I have to admit you're right on the lack of biomechanical knowledge, though I'm probably more skilled with a knife than you are, but the subject surviving really isn't my main issue. My ah... 'Victims' as they said, were considerably lacking in life before I started to work on them, though I did see a live pig slit open once. Not pretty by any stretch of the imagination, however it did wonders to my understanding of why people don't like working in abattoirs. Damn wusses."

Jon grinned, and for a moment looked like a predator sizing up a rival. Then he relaxed, and the grin was just that; a freindly smile. "Let's hope we don't need to test our skills against each other he," said softly
