sup guys, i was just surfing the web today when i saw a picture of an elegant dining hall with gold lined porcelain plates and shiny wood paneled floors with velvety looking curtains framing the windows and this song just started playing in my head.

does this happen to anyone else when they see a picture or scene of anything? anything at all?

also, what the hell is this piece? i have no idea. that's why i had to write it out instead of just naming the piece.

P.s. i know my web camera sucks and my music transcription skills suck too. just work with it and dont be hatin.

There was a curtain with a bunch of dots on it in my sisters house and my brother put music bars across it and started playing the song it made on guitar. It sounded cool, but I don't remember what it was.

Anyway, that's what this reminds me of.

You're referring to a leitmotif. Its a piece of music associated with a person, place, or theme.

Me, Whenever I think of evil, the Imperial March starts playing in my head.

I'm more the other way around. I hear a song and begin visualizing a scene that fits with the theme of the music. It's quite fun, but obviously I can't just stop what I'm doing a make a short film to go with the song.

i though leitmotifs were only applicable when the author a work wrote a specific piece of music for that person, place, or theme, like your imperial march plays almost every time darth vader or palpatine shows up. if you still think of that piece outside of the work it was introduced in, is it still considered a leitmotif? just wondering.

also, does anyone know if my piece was originally a leitmotif in the work it was composed for?

Shit, I've heard that piece from somewhere before, now it's gonna bother me. For a while I was wondering what was on the other side of the paper.

Since I'm such a huge music nerd everything reminds me of a song or a piece, mostly classical.

oh, that's just the FFX battle theme for piano. it was impossible, so i gave up and added it to my stack of scrap paper. it's just a coincidence i happened to use a sheet of music to write music.

Huh, so it is. I was trying to read it sideways and I thought it sounded familiar, now it makes sense.

Bleh, I'm jealous of all you people who can read sheet music.

I taught myself guitar, so I've precisely squat all theory. I'm pretty decent at learning by ear though.
