Music Genres You Can't Stand

In all honesty, when I read the OP's list, I nodded in agreement. "Lousy rednecks yodeling 'My baby may have split, but these colors don't run'." Then Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson came to mind. I might not like country, but I really like those artists.

Same thing with the other genres listed. On the whole, they make me cringe, but there are definitely exceptions, even if only one or two. That's enough to keep me from completely dismissing a genre. It's a very easy thing to do, but you might miss out on some amazing music somewhere.

Gangster rap (basically the stuff about shooting cops, dealing drugs and smacking women around)

And that weird techno/pop combo crap that most mainstream female artists use. Basically artists like Rihanna and Lady Gaga.

So, like many people in the world, you don't like some genres of music. What are we supposed to conclude from this? What is the purpose of this thread, except to say "I don't like [stuff]"?
That's pretty much what most of the threads on any website are about. That, or "I like [stuff]." I don't think we're supposed to "Conclude" anything from this. You're just supposed to contribute. What is your purpose of posting? It's obviously not to contribute. You posted simply to say "I don't like [this thread.]" I've no problem with that, though. Just seems hypocritical.

I can't stand emo, or screamo. Most of that indie stuff with the whiny singer(No offense, guys!) I don't like, either.
The original purpose of my post was to get the poster of the OP to edit his OP to add some discussion content in it, so he could avoid a thread lock, as "list threads" frequently get locked by moderators for having no discussion value. The OP took my advice and went and added context to his OP.

Country and Polka.

Country because it, as a genre, is dependent on and defined by musical concepts that are, in any other context, considered bad musicianship.

Polka because it's just freaking irritating.

Besides that, I like pretty much anything.
Have you ever seen anyone get, like, a mad polka freak on? 'Cause it's INSANE.

Just copy the embed code from YouTube, unless the Escapist doesn't allow that.

Which music genres do you dislike and why?
For me it would be...
1) Country Music, it seems that everything I've heard so far is mainly about how great America is and how its sooo cool to be a red neck. I also just dislike their general style of singing.
2) Rap- Its just some no talents talking or shouting with background music, yes they can have some pretty good lyrics and catchy beats though.
3) Pop or anyone that uses auto tune! There is just no need for this to exist!
4) Screamo/Thrash/Death Metal- There just seems to be no form and I dislike getting headaches.

If you enjoy the music that I listed, feel free to discuss why and maybe change my mind.
I pretty much agree, there are rare exceptions but overall it seems to just be the same thing over and over again.

To make conversation/a discussion I'd imagine... or maybe to troll or to get people to troll...

Techno and all its variations and offshoots.

Even on drugs I hate it, and that's what it's meant to be made for.
I've heard people complain about Techno before and it just blows my mind... why do you dislike it? I tend to think of 'music' before 'songs' because oftentime people are singing about either incomprehensible things or childish bullshite.

I despise the current music industry. Talentless interchangeable attention whores litter the music scene like sprinkles made of cyanide and camel shit.

Justin Bieber gets international fame, a number one hit on the "charts" and all the tweenage poon he could want in a lifetime, yet almost nobody I've asked has ever heard of Taking Dawn.

The entire industry at the moment can be summed up in two words.

FUCKING INSULTING.
I would say I probably agree with you, sir.

I don't think it does, or else I'm exceptionally thick (or both!). Thanks, though!

I have my least favorites, like Country and Rap, but I believe every genre has its exceptions. I'm not a big Country fan, but Johnny Cash was the fucking man. Not a big rap fan, but then you've got Public Enemy, and Deltron 3030, and the various rap-metal bands like Limp Bizkit, and Linkin Park.

Every genre has its exceptions.

I'll probably get flamed for this but...

It has to be Retards Attempting Poetry for me.
Seriously, I've had enough of it. Not a single day goes by without me hearing it beating in the corridors of my school.
IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE!

Also... Country.
Because my mom has nagged it on the stereo of her car for every day we make a trip longer than 10 minutes.

Country. Is. Pretty. Bad. But. Not. Quite. Rage. Inducing. Even. Though. I. Give. A. Disapproving. Smirk. When. It. Plays.

Already said many times, but rap and country.
I can listen to pretty much anything, and it mostly depends on the song itself, but there is very little music from those genres that I can listen to.

Rap.
Hip-Hop.
Combos Techno and either of the two aforementioned (Techno is fine, though).
And any music that is popular or considered contemporary, with very few exceptions.

Most forms of rap as I tend to see it as misogynistic

Most form of metal - I can't take screeching guitars and voices any more,

Anything too auto-tuned or overproduced. No passion.
