Ok so my beloved Creative Zen got destroyed a few weeks back (long story) and Ive decided to go get a new iPod. Im finding iTunes a real pain to get my music across from, yeah sure if you sit there organising/renaming all your music rating it and making playlists all the time it would be a fantastic program.

But surely im not the only person that finds this bothersome? I have a lot of music like 30+ gigs... I really cant be bothered organising that much, and when I just do a bulk drop of all the music across it just comes out a mess on the ipod.

Does anyone use all those features with their music to constantly organise and keep track of it? or am I the only one thats lazy and just likes to drag and drop music folders over. Theres enough iPods out there so most people must be sitting there for hours making playlists or am I doing something completely wrong?

It's not that hard if you don't make it so. I just dragged every album into a new playlist. Eventually after you've had your music you get your most played list automatically created.

Other little details come naturally with time.

And I have a 105gb music library, which I trimmed down to 33gb the other week. So yeah, it works for big libraries as well.

I do, but thats because I work on it constantly. It helps if you download music that already has all that information filled out. If not than just right click, click get info, and fill in all the feilds (you can even do this for multiple songs, just highlight them). You can also build smart playlists such as making an Alternative genre playlist. Hold shift and press the new playlist, you can easily organize by year, artist, album, genre, or whatever. Just mess with the program, eventually you'll get the hang of it.

I find it works perfectly, the extent of the necessary work is indeed dragging dropping and occaisionally naming. I've never had a problem with it and I'm working with about 50GB of music.

Belive me I hate iTunes too, especially since it likes to add duplicate and triplicate files. I have around 200gb of music but I only use about ~80gb at a time. I tried 3rd party software but some if it acutally deleted my music on my iPod or wouldn't sync the music properly.
